I don't know if this is a bug in ProtoMol core or if it's something on my end. But I've had this happen once or twice before with the ProtoMol core. Possibly with the same core 25 version of ProtoMol. Not often thou. But it happens when I'm near the end of a WU. The last time this happened I believe the WU was 80% completed or higher. Usually happens right after I start up F@H it gives me the error I got in this log.

Where is the log showing the download? As near as I can see, the WU was corrupted in a previous log.

We have had a variety of reports of strange occurrences with ProtoMol running with the Systray client. Some have suggested that the Console client works better.


Someone else was able to complete that WU, but I can't tell if it was the systray or console client.

It's the problem with closing down the client with a b4 core WU with Windows. Windows closes the client before the cores done all it's song and dance routine when closing down, so the core is left at paused. It should be fixed (ie Stanford know about this problem) with the next version of the core and/or client. see this thread (still happens also to me occasionaly on a machine with folding as a service)

I split the log into 2 parts because half of it was in the FAHlog-Prev and the other half in the current log. John I close F@H before I restart my computer and I didn't have any unexpected restarts while folding this unit. I also didn't have F@H paused when closing the program. I think it's just random maybe a leftover of when the whole WU use to restart when you closed F@H midfold.

This is the message from the closedown error (I've seen it too!) For some reason the core is only paused and not stopped. The only thing I would suggest is check Task Manager after you've closed F@H before you reboot. If the cores still going, then wait and then reboot.

I can't say for sure if the core isn't shutting down completely. Never had any reason to look at the Task Manager after closing F@H. If I get another ProtoMol I'll look into that.

Reason I mention it, I was folding on a USB-memory and wanting to close down folding and move the USB-memory. Closed down the console client with ctrl+C, tried to close down the USB-memory to remove it from the machine, but it would n't as the b4 core was still running. Waited and waited, but in the end just took out the USB-memory and put it in the other machine. Result? Same failure message as you got. Same problem I suppose as mentioned in this thread. I'm not sure what would happen if you tried stopping the core with Task Manager. Could well end up with the same error message/problem when re-starting.
