Just curious, I ran for several days successfully completing a 5902 every 6 hours on a GTX260 overclocked to the edge of reason at 700/1600/1150 (and various combinations on the upper edge of stable operations), keeping fan rate near 65% and monitoring temps. (never over 70C). The whole time I had solid performance on second client running on the CPU throughout (ASUS M3N78Pro w Phenom X3 OC'ed a mere 3%). Yesterday I noticed multiple failures occuring on GPU projects so I backed all the clocks down half way to stock and watched it run to 79% before again crashing. The computer crashed repeatedly yesterday on it's own, but this time it crashed (I would surmise) when I opened up a YouTube video in IE8. Not sure if the crash occurs because of overclocking, or because I push pocess priority to High, or because this code was secretly designed to torture folding geeks (Jimmy Hoffa keeps telling me that from his secret Area 51 hideout, in between his visits to educate me on how all my food is being poisoned to make me a government drone)

Before being asked, I have the latest Nvidia drivers in place so I doubt the problem lies there. I am also running this on a Windows 7 beta testbed so it is possible my problem lies behind the Gates of reason. As a computer geek since the early 1970's I have no problems deducing systemic failures, this however, is in the realm of coded software/drivers/CUDA and I'm just curious how many of us are seeing this code throw temper tantrums.

Anyway, my usage of the system hasn't changed, but in the past 2 days the 5900 projects seem to be dropping willy nilly. In 3 solid months (this time around with FAH) of folding this is the biggest patch of unaccomplished work I've yet to view. Backing all my clocks to stock and hoping to sooth the tempermental beast for a day or two before again pushing the limits in search of CUDA perfection.

There are a few threads where people have reported a problem with the new Core 14 work units. Not sure if it applies here, but you might take a look to see what the others have found so far.

Set your clocks back to stock and see if that helps (if your board is factory overclocked, try the clocks of the standard version).

Also, please post the complete WU references (like in the other threads in this forum) to let us check for results.

Hello, I'm seeing the same error as the poster above on a new mainboard with integrated G8300 graphics after about two weeks of sucessfull folds. After this occured , all other fold attempts failed with

If you Google 3221225477 you'll find quite a number of hits. Many seem to also mention 0xc0000005 (which is probably the hex equivalent, though I didn't check the calculation). I do know that 0xc0000005 is a RAM addressing error which you'll find in the wiki -- probably attributable to overclocking.

I've been experiencing "Exception thrown during guarded run" errors for weeks. Folding at home CPU client is running in conjunction with the GPU client. If I remember correctly, these errors started with the new core. Previously WU finished successfully. Yesterday, one WU finally ran to completion-I attribute this to shutting down and starting F@H every several hours. HELP!

When I stop watching films, everything is back to normal, any ideas ?

You have two possibilities :

- stop watching films
- pause FAH while doing GPU intensive things (films, games, ...)

Choose the one you like better
