Project: 2611 (Run 84, Clone 18, Gen 22)

Hi, I'm new here.

I've been folding for the DD Squad for a few months and am running both the GPU2 and the x86 CPU clients on the same system. Now I've just discovered that the CPU client can't upload the results...here's from the log file:

I just noticed yesterday that it has problems getting new WUs too, takes minutes and lots of inquires before it can get a new WU. My firewall is set to let it get through, both ways.

I've just noticed whenever I (re-)start the CPU client it displays a message about trying to send result until I pause the client after which it then displays working progress (like 10/125), <--- all when holding the cursor over the client.

System specs:

CPU: AMD Athlon X2 5000+ Black Edition @ 3.1 GHz (230 MHz FSB)
RAM: 4x1 GB PC2-8500 Kingston HyperX @ 960 MHz
Video cards: 2 x Sapphire Radeon HD 3870 512MB GDDR4 @ standard clocks
Mobo: MSI K9A2 Platinum V2

OS: Win XP SP3 and fully updated
Video card driver: ATI Catalyst "HotFix" driver optimized for "Far Cry 2", (hotfix_xp32-64_dd_ccc_70516), installed.
DirectX Latest, August 2008 version.
Chipset drivers: CCC 2008.0722.2134.36815, SBDrv: 2.7
Firewall: ZoneAlarm version 7.0.483.000

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Have you read this post, stickied at the top of the server issues forum, and worked through the suggestions? viewtopic.php?f=18&t=151

Thanks for replying.

Yes, I have read it, but some of it is beyond me, I've only just started on F@H so it's all new to me, hence me posting my problem now.

That is usually the case when you have trouble uploading a WU, when the client has worked fine before and when you haven't changed anything. It often is caused when a server is just too busy to receive the WU when you send it. When that happens, the client should get more work and keep trying every six hours until it is able to send the WU back.

You can check Server Status here ---> http://fah-web.stanford.edu/serverstat.html

Look at the FAHlog.txt file to find the IP address of the work server your client is trying to reach to send the WU back. Look up that IP on the Server Status page.

It helps, if you don't understand part of it, if you quote the part you don't understand so somebody knows where to start to try to help you.

That said, welcome to Folding@Home. We're glad you have decided to do that. You'll find a lot of people here who think you are contributing to a very worthy project and really do want to help however they can when you need it. :)
