Points are creeping up a bit. Still down a lot from what it was. I'll keep checking on it but still appears to be a big loss for today on that PC. This was my first Version 8 update. Tried update on another PC and points look like what I normally expect from that PC.

The points displayed are an estimate and can be way off.

The client has no effect on PPD. Its only job is to launch the cores which do the folding, and the cores are the same between v7 and v8. But it does estimate the PPD. Sometimes the estimates are off, and some projects give you a little more or less PPD than others. It's impossible to notice a trend with just one datum.
The client does just a few things. It requests a new work unit and runs the core on it. The core outputs a progress log which the client copies to its own log ("Completed 250000 out of 2500000 steps (10%)" was actually sent by the core and the client just prepended "18:37:36:I1:WU1:" to it). When the core hits 100%, it packages its work files into a single results file and it exits. The client notices that it exits and uploads the results file that the core left behind. That just repeats until the client is stopped or gets paused.
The core in your log is completing one percent every 6.2 minutes. It would be running at that rate whether you're using v7, v8, or just running the core on its own without any client at all. And the points you get is determined by how fast you complete the WU. So there's nothing to worry about as long as it's folding.

I thought v8's PPD estimate always assumes bonus is active if passkey is set. OP is saying that the PPD estimate is half, not that the point returns are low.

I did an update of V 7 and it looks like it imported my passkey team and username.
Points look about normal today. I guess I jumped the gun. Sorry for the erroneous post.
Thanks to all that replied!
