Do points migrate when first joining a team?

Basically there are a few people with the username I use on folding. I don't want to change that username because I've accumulated a load of points. I was hoping to create my own team so I can more easily track my points without getting lost in the names, but I'm worried, will the points carry across. Baring in mind I haven't joined a team before?

Any points you get only account for the team you made them in. For example my stats (if they load, the servers are really struggling at the moment).

You do have a passkey, So at least something differentiates you from the other users with the same name?
