Asus GTX 660 PPD Results, Impressive?

Post by dreamscape »

Hello all

I have a GTX 650 which i use in a dual core PC as a dedicated folding machine 24/7 it runs between 10/13k PPD which is not too bad for 65 watts. However, My main PC has an Asus GTX 660 and I've never actually tried folding on it before. I tried it today and...

It's doing almost 4 times as much as the 650!? thats a hell of a leap! Is this a good result for this card or the norm? It seems very high for this mid range card to me.

Well, the 660 is quite a jump from the 650 in one aspect that is very important to folding - it has two and a half times as many shaders at 960 compared to 384 for the 650. There is also an OEM model 660 that has 1152 shaders, but a lower clock speed. Since the QRB is semi-exponential, the PPD you are seeing is about right as compared to what the 650 gets. Persons who own 660's can comment on whether it compares to their cards.
