Welcome to the folding@home support forum fturco.

Is the power slider set to Full? If that doesn't help then yes you can change the number to threads from -1 to 2 provided you don't intend to use your gpu for folding.

If you require further help please supply the System Info and Config sections of your log as explained here.

Also note that if this is the first work unit, there is a three year old bug where it will only use one core. After that, it can use more than one.

It is not so much a bug as the first unit being downloaded based on the initial defaults. The defaults use one less core than the maximum on desktop systems and half the cores on laptops, which in the case of a dual core system like yours is effectively the same. The goal was to leave system resources available for the user and allow them to decide whether to use the Full setting. The "bug" is the result of some WU's downloaded with a core setting of one being restricted to running on a single core.

Further information on the V7 software can be found through The Software link provided at the top of forum pages. The FAQ and Intermediate FAQ have sections on the slider settings.

It DOES apply here if the slot setting had been changed to 2 and power at full. It still would have only used one core. It is still a bug when 8 core systems only use one core on the first WU, and it has NOTHING to do with defaults or power settings.

I am glad you consider it fixed.

Unfortunately, observant new donors like yourself keep reporting the same problem over and over and over.
