Returned the Subject WU to Stanford ~7AM Local Time 6/24/2010. As expected, I received only the Base 921 points DESPITE having processed 24/7 on a 1.83GHz C2D Mac Mini. Something seems to be seriously askew about how PG benchmarks the new WUs despite their claim that they are only trying to "level the playing field" by introducing the newly revised system.

However, the above is not my current difficulty. The 921 points that I was awarded still do not appear in my Passkey Account. They first appeared in the "Totals" section of the Official Donor Statistics. Is this possible that a P6701 WU (coded as a GRO-A3 Unit) can have the awarded points added to a users "Total" and not added to their "PassKey" accounting???

Either there is a SNAFU afoot here or I just do not understand the complexities of this wonderful points/bonus-points system. I would appreciate it if an Admin/Mod could check and see if the Base Points will eventually be assigned to my Passkey accounting???

The FAHLog for the completion of and return of Subject WU follows:

Code: Select all

The server reports that the passkey in use during the upload did not match the passkey that was in use when the WU was assigned. When you do not meet this security requirement, no bonus is awarded, just as if no passkey was used.

@bruce;

The WU in question was returned from a machine that previously returned A3 core WUs and has subsequently returned A3 core WUs. All of these OTHER WUs have been credited to my PassKey Account. During this time-period, I did nothing to change how, or where, my passkey is reported to Stanford/PG.

Do you have any idea as to how this sort of mixup can occur while the return in under the control of the Client and the accuracy of the Stanford Server operation????. The WU was considered "healthy" since it's basic points value WAS credited to my Totals accounting.

Edit: Just to be completely clear, I am only talking about base points, not bonus points, in this thread. It is the base points that were not credited for this particular WU.

Is there a breakdown in communications? You DID get base points but no bonus.

Hi Aardvark (team 48057),
Your WU (P6701 R45 C13 G5) was added to the stats database on 2010-06-24 06:06:29 for 921 points of credit.

Ok bruce;

If it is in the Database, that is as far as we should/could go. The breakdown must be in the linkage to the Official Stats page that reports PassKey stats. It did not increment when that addition was made to the Database. The Totals Page got it all, however.

Thanks.

OK, that makes sense. There SHOULD BE a message in FAHlog "Passkey found" or something like that when you started the WU. If that message is missing, then (A) the WU wouldn't appear in your passkey stats and (B) No bonus. If the message happens to be there, we won't know what passkey was used, but if the message is missing, we will have an explanation.

@bruce;

I reviewed the FAHlog for the total history of the Subject WU. The entry "Passkey found" does appear at the expected time in the download of the WU. The machine immediately started processing and ran without interruption, of any kind, until completion. At that point, the results were written cleanly to disk and return to Stanford appeared to be normal.

From our discussion, it appears that some anomaly occurred that has prevented the Base Points for this WU being credited to my PassKey account. I have processed another P6701 WU, with this same setup, and it's Base Points(No Bonus Points) were credited to the PassKey account. I can not explain the different processing upon return.

The Bonus Points for these P6701 WU's is NOT my issue in this thread. I do feel that the completion of an A3core WU with ~40% of "available time to completion" remaining should be entitled to some Bonus Points. It appears that the P6701 project was structured in some way that does not award Bonus Points for this accomplishment on a C2D Mac Mini. Other Folders have had similar experiences and it has resulted in a "minor FUROR" in these Forums. You have informed PG of the general situation and there is little more that can be done. It is my understanding that PG has the situation "under review".

Bottom line is that I apparently encountered something erratic in how the Subject WU was handled on return to Stanford.
I think we have adequately documented the event and I again "Thank You" for your assistance in running the issue to ground.

I've seen several "minor furors" going on recently but this doesn't fit the pattern of the other topics. This one may be unique to the Mac, though, and I'd like some additional information. Please post the segment of FAHlog that you've described. I want to get to the bottom of the issue.

Have you gotten bonus points for other projects that you've completed on the Mini? If so, what PRCGs?
