Cannot download FahCore_81.exe

Post by pfv »

Hi

I have a situation going on for several days now. Since it didn't seem to fix itself, I upgraded the client, but I still have the same issue. Any suggestion?

I don't know, but one possiblity is that your security software is preventing you from downloading a .exe file. (I thought it was supposed to download a .fah file instead.)

Have you tried disabling your security software?

What version of Windows do you have?

You could stop the client and try deleting the work folder and the queue.dat file. The next time you start the client, it will regenerate the folder and the file and go looking for new work. Hopefully it will be a WU that uses a core you already have. There's also a procedure around here somewhere for manually downloading a core. I couldn't find it.
Proud to crash my machines as a Beta Tester!

I guess you mean this: http://fahwiki.net/index.php/Downloadin ... s_manually

Please do NOT delete the work folder and the queue.dat file unless you have exhausted a number of other possible fixes. That's about the same as trying to operate a mine without any dynamite -- only atomic bombs.

...hence the term "nuking the client" :( Almost always the last resort!

Yeah, before posting I had tried to stop the client many times, updated another client (Beta), nuked the dat. Tried on different networks, could access the net, download stuff (any).
My security settings didn't change (win XP sp2) I have about 40 units completed over the past 6 months on this computer.

For some reason (couldn't figure out) the client finally managed to download the core. it is working again now.

Thanks for your suggestions

Cheers
