"Could not get an assignment"

After a few years without any problems I keep getting the below error message on repeat in my log :

18:35:42:WU00:FS00:Connecting to assign1.foldingathome.org:80
18:35:43:WARNING:WU00:FS00:Failed to get assignment from 'assign1.foldingathome.org:80': No WUs available for this configuration
18:35:43:WU00:FS00:Connecting to assign2.foldingathome.org:80
18:35:44:WARNING:WU00:FS00:Failed to get assignment from 'assign2.foldingathome.org:80': No WUs available for this configuration
18:35:44:WU00:FS00:Connecting to assign3.foldingathome.org:80
18:35:44:WARNING:WU00:FS00:Failed to get assignment from 'assign3.foldingathome.org:80': No WUs available for this configuration
18:35:44:WU00:FS00:Connecting to assign4.foldingathome.org:80
18:35:45:WARNING:WU00:FS00:Failed to get assignment from 'assign4.foldingathome.org:80': No WUs available for this configuration
18:35:45:ERROR:WU00:FS00:Exception: Could not get an assignment

I can access all of the connections in Chrome without a problem.

Any help would be appreciated.

Too little information. Please post the beginning section of the log file that includes the hardware, software and client configuration information for your system. Usually that takes about 100 or so lines at most.

My wild guess is that the folding slot that is not getting an assignment is for a GPU. It has either been removed from the supported list, or the client tried to download an update to the GPUs.txt file and your system had not established an internet connection before FAHClient was started on the system.

Thanks, Joe_H.

It does seem to be having a problem with the GPU, which I remove but it keeps coming back again.

Can anyone help with this ?

It managed to run complete one WU but it now can't get the one and is showing the same problem.

Might be the end of me using folding@home if I can't get this fixed.

Someone else was unable to get assignments until they increased cpus to 2.

To prevent a GPU slot from being recreated, I think you need to add client option gpu false in FAHControl.

Thanks, calxalot.

Increasing the CPUs manually to 2 (instead of -1 and letting the client choose) has got it going again.

You have 4 CPU threads and no usable GPUs, you should manually set your CPU slot to use the whole 4 threads of the CPU using FAHControl ...

Thanks, toTOW.

I'll give 4 threads a crack later and see how I get on.

Note that an increase in cpus will not take effect until the next WU assignment.

Me too: "Could not get an assignment"

I experience the same problem: "

Code: Select all

No WUs available for this configuration
"

I understand that my ancient computer may be too weak to be of much use. I donate only one CPU core of my AMD Athlon II 445 -- I need the rest for my work. Obviously, FaH has begun the require more power than I used to offer until recently. I've donated 180 WUs up to now.

Strangely enough, I have been assigned a new WU.

Code: Select all

Project: 18469 (Run 166, Clone 2, Gen 0)
However:
ETA: 37.33 days
Estim. TPF: 9 hours 05 mins
Expiration: 2023-03-09T21:10:34Z (i.e. 9 days left)
1.37 % calculated after ca. 23 hours...

Well, that does not match

How can it be that I've been assigned so large a WU?
