Welcome to Folding@Home!

F@H supports AMD and Nvidia GPUs provided they support double precision (64 bit) floating point math and at least OpenCL 1.2

You have an Intel GPU. There is a beta team working on zero point Intel WUs, You could join that team. I assume that at least some Intel GPUs will be supported someday.

Just a beta test of Intel graphics, you can set client to the setting listed in the log, and if there are any of the benchmark WUs available it will be assigned. Membership on beta team not required at this point. Otherwise the Intel iGPUs are disabled and not used for folding at this time.

Just out of curiosity, which CPU is that iGP associated with?

Facts:
The Intel GPUs are relatively slow compared to the fully supported AMD and NV units but there will be projects developed for them once the benchmarking is complete.

Heat generated may be a limiting factor. How good is your CPU's cooling?

I recently set GPU-beta for a system with 1) a Skylake CPU, UHD 620 , and 2) Comet Lake - UHD 630. The Skylake IGPU did about 10000 PPD, which is not worth the effort. The i10700 Comet Lake seemed to be doing 400K+ PPD. However, this system also has a RTX 3070. The CPU does about 150K PPD, the RTX 3070 seems to be about 3M PPD. With the iGPU enabled, the 3070 dropped to 1.7M PPD. I tried lowering the CPU threads to 10 (of 16 logical), even isolating these two 6 physical cores, leaving one physical CPU core to handle the FahCore_22 process for the 3070 and another for iGPU, no change. So its possible the new Intel iGPU at the 630 and later might be worthwhile in an iGPU only system, it does not seem to play well with nVidia

Yes, the Intel GPUs are relatively weak performers, compared to discrete GPUs like nV or AMD. A system with no discrete GPUs can benefit when the iGPU can be enabled.

There is a reported client bug in systems with both an iGPU and a dGPU. I have no predicted ETA for a fix.

Once that bug is fixed, it's not clear who will choose to enable their iGPU.

Hey There,

I have a gen 10 intel cpu in a nuc. I'd like to activate the gpu to do some wu's. How do i go about doing this. Here is a paste of my log:

This is the newest driver I can find.

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en ... ivers.html

If F@H ever supports Intel graphics, it will need the newest drivers.

I am running Windows 11 Pro and it has the latest drivers installed?

As mentioned in the log, currently Intel iGPUs are in a beta test status. There are limited numbers of WUs that will process on them, and these may run out at times. You do need to enable the GPU slot by adding the option mentioned in the log - gpu-beta set to true.

The good news is that your processor and its iGPU is not too recent. As best as I can find the UHD Graphics on your i5-10210U does support double precision calculations, Intel has removed that support from its newest iGPUs.

For drivers you will probably need to download them directly from Intel, the drivers installed through Windows update may only support use of the iGPU for video display, not calculations using OpenCL for the folding core.

Forgive me, I'm not sure what I need to do to enable the gpu for folding. Is their instructions somewhere on how to enable this? I did download the latest video drivers from intel and i installed them. You were right, they weren't the full package nor the proper version.

Someone has posted full directions in the past, the general directions for advanced configuration are here - viewtopic.php?f=61&t=26036#p327411.

In this case, use FAHControl and its Configure button. Select Slots, click on the GPU slot to select it, and then click on Edit. Using Add to Extra Slot Options set the Option Name gpu-beta and set the Value to true. OK, and OK and Save to set the value and exit from Configure.

Ok I added the values.
For GPU 1 = I added gpu-beta=true and per the log it wanted opencl-index. Didn't specify a value so i selected 1. 0 didn't make a difference. Still shows "disabled."

Here is my updated log.

There's currently no work available that is small enough for Intel iGPUs ... :(
