Upgrading GPU

My apologies if this is covered somewhere, I tried searching for my answer, but was unsuccessful.

I will be upgrading my GPU and wanted to see if there was a specific way to handle this. My thoughts are:

1. Finish the existing WU.
2. Pause folding.
3. Shutdown the PC and install new GPU.
4. Install new driver and make sure GPU appears to function correctly.
5. Start FAH since mine doesn't run on startup.
6. Begin folding again, making sure the new GPU is recognized.

Does that look OK or is there something else I need to do or consider?

This is exactly the way I do usually. Additionally, you may note down your PPD of the old GPU and compare it to the new.

If the new GPU is not recognized properly, or you see oddities when folding, you may need to uninstall the client along with its data and reinstall. If you keep a copy of the config.xml file, that is useful for copying and pasting setup info like your passkey.

The only thing I would add is to make sure all of your WUs have completed and uploaded, not just the one on the card you want to upgrade.

The FINISH function in FAHControl is very helpful.

Thanks everyone. Installed the new GPU after finishing up the WU. As far as folding goes everything went smoothly and the new GPU has been folding for 2 days now. PPD seem to be what I expect as my son has the same GPU and I'm getting similar results to him.

Bruce, yes the Finish function is indeed very helpful!
