First use of Passkey

Post by xmitr »

Just a dumb question. I read that we should have a passkey for security etc, so I requested and got one. I entered it into the Advanced Control Configure screen. Then I paused FAH and restarted the computer (Windows 10). Now it shows 0 points total. What happened, will my 2 million-odd points be reinstated? I couldn't see any explanation for this in the FAQ's. Also I feel like Scrooge McDuck counting my money here but are the previously accumulated points applied at the Bonus rate?

Thanks in advance

points are accrued to user/team/passkey groupings ... your points haven't vanished there are just associated to username/team with "no passkey" ... having a passkey attached to the grouping will mean that after 10 successfully completed WUs with this grouping (which counts points up from 0) you will start to accrue Quick Return Bonus(QRB) which for many people (as long as WUs are being completed within Timeout) makes a very big difference and so the future pain of having to add the new and old together oneself is small compared to the significant gains in ppd ... if you do a user name search in the stats you should see your past and your new stats (as they start to accumulate).

^^ What he said.

Beyond security, the quick return bonus points will add up so quickly that losing the couple million points will be recovered fairly quickly unless you have a really slow system.

My 2400G APU would return 15-17K PPD folding on GPU with no passkey. With the passkey and QRB the average is up in the 70K range. Quicker systems will have even greater QRB bonus, so in the end your points will come back to you.
Fold them if you get them!
