Problem with servers or wu

Post by gs60 »

Hello,

I received a wu from a project group that is "unspecified". It appears that the servers don't want the results and the fahclient --dump command will not remove wu's that
are in "send" state. I'm on metered bandwidth and all this upload does is just sit and spin between two servers and there's no way to control the upload process (i.e. retry's, time between retry's, etc...). Right now I'm still processing wu's manually in "finish" mode and going back online when it's time to send results. The question is, short of a reinstall, how do you clear a wu in "send" state?

The problem is probably on the server end, at least one of them had been in the process of having space cleared after it filled up. I have notified the persons managing the 2 servers.

Hello,

Thank you for your help! I will update this thread if the status of these two servers changes.

Hello,

Just an fyi, I was assigned another wu from the same servers but a different project and it uploaded just fine on the first try. The wu associated with project 13829 is still failing.

Welcome to the F@H Forum gs60,

Please note that the WU from Project 13829 can only be uploaded to that specific server. Since Joe_H has already notified the proper personal, we will have to just want until the Server is operational again and the client will automatically upload the WU when that happens. The assumption is that this happens before the WU reaches the expiration date.

Hello,

128.252.203.9 is the home of both 14400 and 13829, so I suspect the wu for 13829 has been abandoned by its project. It's only using bandwidth once an hour now so unless that changes, I will let it die a natural death. Hopefully though, it's just a full database for 13829 and room will be made for it.

Thank you for all you help!

Final update. The project received its wu! I thought with the storms and unceremonious shutdowns, the wu was ejected, but I found it in the log archives.

Again, thank y'all for all your help!

I am glad that the issue has been resolved for you :)

However, please note that in some cases, the researcher might not be able to do much since they don't have direct access to the Servers and would have to log a request to the respective team(s). Thus, while it might appear that nothing is being done, there's a lot happening behind the scenes :)
