Nvidia 451.67 driver leads to no available work units

Post by thelonetraveler »

I've been using F@H with an Nvidia Titan V but when I recently upgraded the drivers to 451.67, the client showed the gpu sitting in the ready state with the following in the logs

Code: Select all

15:35:20:WU00:FS01:Connecting to assign4.foldingathome.org:80
15:35:20:WARNING:WU00:FS01:Failed to get assignment from 'assign4.foldingathome.org:80': No WUs available for this configuration
Downgrading the driver to the previous release, 451.48, the client was able to obtain work for my gpu

I suspect the two are unrelated. There is currently a low supply of GPU WUs that can be supplied to some configurations. In addition a few servers are down, awaiting transfer of finished work to free up storage space.

Finally, the projects associated with the COVID Moonshot work release WUs in waves. A large number are put up to be processed over the next few days, collected and analyzed, and then the next batch with different candidates is created and released.

Without the first 200 lines of the log, no one can help or guess what was wrong. (if it was on your end)

I have 3 Nvidia cards on 451.67 running well in Windows 10. (GTX 1050 ti, GTX 1060, GTX 1650)

As far as guessing/estimating the queue of work the server status link from the header of the forums lists the public jobs available - bit of an arcane science understanding the page - and even though I reckon I am wrong whenever I see the same number of jobs on a server listed as both public and beta I have a suspicion they may be in beta not yet released to public - but I believe I may be wrong on this !!
2x Xeon E5-2697v3, 512GB DDR4 LRDIMM, SSD Raid, W10-Ent, Quadro K420
Xeon E3-1505Mv5, 32GB DDR4, NVME, W10-Pro, Quadro M1000M
i7-960, 12GB DDR3, SSD, W10-Pro, GTX1080Ti

I share your skepticism.

If we ASSUME that a job is either in Beta or Advanced but not both, the numbers should be different.

(Jobs that have been released to Advanced are added to jobs that have been released to Full FAH are combined in a single total of public jobs.)
