FahCore_22.exe - Entry Point not Found

Post by Bob049 »

Hi

I'm receiving the above message when starting the Fah client. The body of the error is "The procedure entry point fatBinaryCtl could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Windows\SysWOW64\qcopencl.dll.

This seems to cause the client to halt, and means that if it occurs when the client is running unattended (I think it is generated when a new WU starts). When I clear the message the client seems to run ok until the error is generated again.

The time lapse between new web connection and checkpoint file found is from starting the client to me clearing the error.

Any help would be appreciated

Kind regards

Robin

There are couple of other reports of this error message, a cause has not yet been identified. Thank you for the report, perhaps together they can help find the reason for the error so it can be fixed.

Sorry, I didn't finish a sentence in my OP. .....and means that if it occurs when the client is running unattended that the client doesn't start a job. I'm not sure if the error has any other impact.

Does the client attempt to download new work, or just stop after finishing? In the first case if the client does not get work right away, that would probably be connected with the servers getting more requests than they can currently fulfill. For the second could you post a log section that shows this?

The client downloads new work, but when the folding starts and the error message is popped it stops. You can see this in the log extract below.

In summary
15:19:52 A work unit is completed
15:20:30 A new download is started
15:22:14 The WU is started (error message pops, but not registered in log)
16:08:30 I realise the error has popped and clear it. The folding actually starts

I have not seen many reports associated with fatBinaryCtl. There's some discussion about it on nvidia.com so my guess it's associated with their OpenCL/CUDA drivers. I don't have any definitive information yet.

The only fix that we know about is to run OpenCL 1.2. We've only seen this error on hardware and drivers that support OpenCL 1.1.

Are you able to run some projects an not ohers or do they all fail?
