OpenCL: Not detected: clGetPlatformIDs() returned -1001

Hello, for some reason the GPU is not active. I suppose this is the cause of the problem. The CPU works just fine.
I could not find a solution to this problem online, neither could I find what the code "-1001" stands for.
The system I am using is Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS. To install openCL and drivers I ran

sudo apt install build-essential dkms

sudo apt install ocl-icd-opencl-dev
And the drevers I got form the official amd website.
Extracted them and ran

./amdgpu-pro-install
Then I rebooted. Sadly the problem did not go away.

I'm a novice *nix user and I'm having the same issue. Doing a search here on clGetPlatformIDs( ) does get returns (I noticed that you did not have a space between the parenthesis). From what little I understand this appears to be a known permission issue. Being that I'm a novice I'm pretty weak on what to do next. Perhaps you can figure this out?

I'm also experiencing this same Error, but on Fedora 31 (KDE). I've seen a few similar (very old) posts saying that their resolution was to switch the OpenCL index from -1 to 1, but am not sure how. Closet command I have found in --help is:
opencl-index <string>
The OpenCL device index of the GPU, counting starts from 0.

I tried --opencl-index 1 (and zero), but continue to receive the same error. Device specs and drivers go over my head a bit.
CPU works fine, yay.

This --opencl-index 1 can be set in the xml file. This does not help as I already have it set.

I managed to get another error. I uninstalled my drivers with

amdpgu-pro-uninstall
And then I installed ROCm following this guide. Now the error -1001 is gone, but my GPU is not detected. I tried to install my drivers again but it resulted in the computer being stuck on boot. By the way

detects my GPU. I have no idea what could cause this problem.

The failed to get work messages are from the servers being overloaded and not not being able to keep up with all of the requests from all of the new an old folding participants.

Hopefully someone familiar with getting OpenCL setup on the linux systems you have will see these and post on fixes.

It's solved in the later versions of FAHClient
