Is my GPU supported? (MacPro 2019)

Hello,

I am Running MacOS Catalina and have MacPro 2019 (Cheese Grinder).
My Graphic Card is a: AMD Radeon Pro 580X 8 GB

When I start Folding@home I only see one Slot (0 = CPU).
That's it, nothing more.

So, does't my Mac support GPU Support at all? :-/

Many greetings,
Lasse

Hello

Unfortunately, F@H on Mac doesn't support GPU

The GPU is supported, the OS is not supported by the F@h software. There is a long history behind that , but it started with a buggy implementation of OpenCL a number of OS versions ago. Apple eventually fixed the bug a few years later.

It should work if you set up to boot into Linux or Windows. There are also CPU projects related to COVID-19, but they are still ramping up the projects.

If you use Bootcamp to run Windows or Linux then yes, the AMD Radeon Pro 580X is a supported piece of hardware. It needs OpenCL 1.2 or newer and the card has that, and needs Double Precision math and the card does that.

Thank you for the really (!) quick answers, guys :-)
So I will wait for some CPU Workunits.
