Suddenly getting this message on my GPU and CPU folders:

When I open cores.foldingathome.org in my browser, it does download a file. Does that work for you? (The downloaded file won't be usable since FAHClient needs to do some processing to install it.)
I have to assume that either the server was down at the time you tried it or your security software is blocking FAHClient from downloading files from that location or the linux user that's running FAHClient doesn't have write access to the location where the fahcore is supposed to be stored.
How are you starting the fahclient service? sudo /etc/init.d/FAHClient start should be processed automatically at boot time.
(fahclient.exe should be running as a service under a special linux user and it should have created directories where it can write.)
Please post the first few pages of FAH's log. (See below)

Correction: I'm getting other reports of problems download a new core from cores.foldingathome.org. Apparently a change was made on one of FAH's servers which was not adequately tested. I've notified the appropriate people, but since it's almost midnight in California, nothing is going to be fixed until at least mid morning.

I have the same problem on W10, and looks like it still hasn't been resolved. It has been like this for more than 24 hours now, seems properly b0rked if they couldn't fix it yesterday.

I am also having the same issue, starting a little over 24 hours ago. The main check I have been making to see whether or not this issue has been resolved is attempting to access the following page in my browser:
Code: Select all
http://cores.foldingathome.org/Win32/AMD64/ATI/R600/Core_21.fah
Other users have been able to access this page with no issue and download the content there. Hopefully that info is of some use.
Additionally, I am running on Windows 10 with an AMD CPU and AMD graphics cards. I am only trying to fold on the GPU cores.

I can access this url now. Looks like whole FAH website is currently moving to
https://foldingathome.org/

Still down here, only for my Nvidia machines on windows and Linux, my Vega machine is still going ok though.
Tried downloading
http://cores.foldingathome.org/Win32/AM ... ore_21.fah in my browser and it does download it. But the FAH client won't.

For WUs that have been downloaded within the past day or so, your FAHClient may need to download a new FAHCore from EITHER of two URLs. You might have exactly the same problem as someone else in this topic or maybe it's something that just looks similar. Please post FAH's log showing exactly what's failing.
The URLs have changed more than once but you may also be having an issue with your security software.
This log:
00:45:47:WU00:FS00:Downloading core from http://cores.foldingathome.org/Linux/AMD64/Core_a4.fah
00:45:47:WU00:FS00:Connecting to cores.foldingathome.org:80
00:47:54:ERROR:WU00:FS00:Exception: Failed to connect to cores.foldingathome.org:80: Connection timed out
shows the url that FAHClient was using (twice) and then it reports a timeout error AT THAT PARTICULAR TIME.
If, at about the same time, the same URL downloads a core (without a timeout) then something else was blocking FAHClient from making the connection.
Note: We also need to see the CWD address near the top of FAH's log. That wasn't included in that log's posting. Did you accept the default settings at the time that FAH was installed or have you relocated any of FAH's resources?

FIXED
I shut down my linux fahcontrol with the exit and picked stop all cores.
I deleted the work units from /var/lib/fahclient/work and restarted the computer.
My rig immediately picked up a new WU. All rigs now operating properly.
Worked also on my W7 machine, deleted work units (C:\Users\[yourname]\AppData\Roaming) and restarted computer.
Thanks to the folks at OCFORUMS.

Deleting the files worked for me, I removed any workunits and all cores installed and let it download again.

For some reason I had to reboot my computer before the cores installed. And I heard this from one other that they also had to reboot to work properly.

Getting another type of error again on any Nvidia folder, on both Windows 10 and Linux.
From Windows machine:
Code: Select all
06:43:36:WU00:FS01:Downloading core from http://cores.foldingathome.org/Win32/AMD64/NVIDIA/Fermi/beta/Core_21.fah
06:43:36:WU00:FS01:Connecting to 172.16.1.100:8080
06:43:37:ERROR:WU00:FS01:Exception: Failed reading core package header.
From Linux Machine:
Code: Select all
02:02:46:WU03:FS00:Downloading core from http://cores.foldingathome.org/Linux/AMD64/NVIDIA/Fermi/Core_21.fah
02:02:46:WU03:FS00:Connecting to cores.foldingathome.org:80
02:02:47:ERROR:WU03:FS00:Exception: Failed reading core package header.
Tried the above fixes of deleting all cores and work units, rebooting and letting it try re-downloading.
Looks like its downloading ok, but won't unpack the core.

The error indicates that you can't access the file on the server, it didn't try to unpack anything ...

I can open the links that foldy give and a package is downloaded. Is this a local permission problem preventing the FAHCore from being stored in a new location?
Do you need to grant a firewall exception to allow FAHClient to download files?
