Hi there

I know not if there's an issue with with P6806 but it gave Mega problems yesterday (April 2) The WU bombed out a number of occasions & the GPU was found to be running 10 degrees C hotter than I would normally expect it to be. At the time I was running OCed however the Vid card I'm using now has successfully completed approx 100 WUs without issues in the same OCed state since purchase approx 5 weeks ago.

The card is an Nvidia 450GTS running on 267.59 which from what I can see is the latest driver available.

After noticing the errors I dropped the OC down to stock, & the GPU usage down to approx 75% to 80% to complete the WU which is gone now. Phew!!!

I'm currently running with another 6806 now with the vid card fan speed set manually to 70% but still showing 61 degrees C

The fan speed would normally be set at the default value of 40% and the temperature would be around 52C-54C BTW I have checked the innards of the box but found no big issue of dust build up.

In the event that it will be of any help I've enclosed the log file below, I'm afraid I don't know how to get it in one of those scrolling boxes that I've seen on here, maybe if required a Mod can edit the post to correct this for me.

If you are comparing temps between other 68xx work units you have run in the past with this 6806 then the number of atoms may account for the increase. As the atom count goes up, the number of shaders used increases along with the temperature. Check the Project Summary page for the units and atom counts and see if that tracks with your increase in temp. The link is at the top of this page. PS - did the 6806 complete?

To HendricksSA I never realised so few atoms would make a difference, albeit the current WU seems to be messing the atom theory about

Amazingly & on the assumption that you’re correct re the # of atoms, this is running hotter than normal too, with approx T minus 30 minutes to GO!!

BTW Yes, it took some time but did complete

Just to tie the loose ends up here, I've now downloaded the Gigabyte recommended 450GTS Driver (ver 259.22) direct from their site & the temperature on WU 6806 (Run 9811, Clone 1, Gen 3) is now showing 54 degree's C @ a fan speed / load of 40%

Therefore Driver Ver 267.59 is obviously not for me.

I used a driver hack to install 267.59 on my GTX570, and had a number of WU's fail due to unstable machine. That driver was only intended for the GTX550, but some thought it fixed the performance issues in DA2. It didn't and I forgot to revert back before I started folding again after vacation. I've done so now to the WHQL 266.58, we'll see what happens.

Hondo, interesting. Do you have any idea if the generic 267 driver changed any card settings or if the Gigabyte one changed anything? For such a good drop in temps at a lower fan it almost seems they reduced something. Glad to hear you are up and running fine!
