Not without the owners permission, no.

But fah can run on any Windows or linux based computer. It's real work function is only a factor if running fah would impact the performance of that function. Typically it does not.

-smp 6 did not work. Neither did -smp 2. Both caused the program to close within a few seconds,

The -smp can be used with a number to restrict the number of cores. Without the number all cores will be used to run one task at a time.

e.g.

-smp is equal to -smp 8 with your system provided HTT is turned on.
-smp 6 would be another option. Prime numbers like 7 should be avoided although 3 works and 5 might work but I believe there have been reports where 5 was a problem so if you're not going to use all 8 then I suggest -smp 6.

Using all 8 should be okay unless you're also running a gpu client. The smp client runs at a very low priority so it shouldn't bother your day to day activies.

v6.23 is a single threaded CPU client. Note the log entry...

[13:10:10] Mapping NT from 1 to 1

It won't work with the multi-threaded -smp 6 switch. You'll need the v6.34 console client for -smp 6. Sorry, SMP only comes in a console (command line) version.

[13:10:10] Mapping NT from 1 to 1
Was wondering what that meant, hardly verbose.

Don't like the sound of a command line client. Can we not just run several GUI clients? :|

Thanks,

Yes you can run several singles, but the SMP client is more productive.

I also recommend the new V7 beta client. Simple to install and run, works as SMP, and it's a gaphical client.
