Everybody missed points yesterday

On the 3am and 6am (CDT) updates on EOC yesterday no team at all was given any points and I haven't seen any of those missing points rolling in, at least not for my team. So, whats up?

Just curious since no one has reported anything about it.

I don't think the points are totally missing.
IIRC it has something to do with the DST. Since the change two years ago.
Stanford goes not agree with this change, and doesn't change their clocks.
They go on the old DST time table. The updates are then calling for a time
that hasn't come about, for Stanford.
Once the time (DST) happens on the old schedule, everything will be back to normal.
The updated points, just happen at odd times, and will eventually return to normal.

Ok, that seems reasonable. But isn't DST just moving one hour? Because that would suggest that only one update should have failed or am I missing something vital here?

Not really sure what it entails. Just that this has happened the last couple of years
at the time of DST change. After a couple of weeks things straighten out.

It could have several server, issues, that I don't know about.
Maybe someone will come by and explain it again. It was on the old forum iirc.

We time sync to time.stanford.edu . The Stanford IT dept has its own ideas on how to do time and we're kinda stuck with their choices.

Thanks for the replies.

OT: What genius came up with DST anyway? Like it's not enough trouble to keep in mind the different time zones, but also to know when/which different countries in these different time zones have their DST (or not have it).

Haha, thank you. William Willett, I will have you! ^^

Especially liked the map that with changed times affected the latitudes.

I guess it has it benefits, but at least for me it just complicates things.
