Yes there shouldn't be any difference in PPD from 8GB or 16GB VRAM as long as everything else is the same (memory speed, shader count etc). Both have more than enough VRAM for even the most demanding projects (I'm folding a 1.2M atom count project and it's using less than 0.5GB VRAM). It's only if you have less than 1GB of VRAM and you use the GPU for your regular desktop that you start to run the risk of overflowing into GART (using system memory as VRAM which is slow for dGPUs).
