Project 3798 - skipped Gen?

Post by anko1 »

I noticed that I received one 3798 project and then immediately got a unit that was the same run and clone, but had skipped a gen. Most units take 3-5 minutes, but this was right after the previous gen was sent. Don't know if there are real calculations going on since this is testing server code, but I thought I'd point it out.

Please see my post and Dr. Pande's post in this topic for information about project 3798.

A different gen means those were two different WUs.

@sorto: What anko1 saw (the skipped gen) meant that Gen 46 was somehow completed and returned in less than 4 seconds in the time it took her to return Gen 45 and get Gen 47. This is impossible under any circumstances.

Could it have something to do with the fact that this project has been issuing duplicate work units (same PRCG)? If duplicate PRC chains run in parallel, could she have got the Run48 from the second PRC chain while she got Run45 from the first?

I see now, anandhanju. I did guess wrong about what anko1 meant.

I can't answer your question, however, sorry. :e(

Thanks, anandhanju, for the (correct) interpretation. I guess I wasn't as clear as I hoped. My post was mostly to alert F@H in case this was an error.

P3798 is for testing some new server code so these WUs may not follow the normal SOP, especially if they are test WUs just being given sequential CRGs.
