Clean Mint21.1 PPD, Very Low After Reinstall.

Post by suprleg »

Clean Mint21.1 install after installing fah I was getting the error message: OpenCL: Not detected: Failed to open dynamic library 'libOpenCL.so':libOpenCL.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory, however, the cpu and gpu slots were folding away and my PPD appeared to be normal for this setup at +-4mil/day.
In the past when I would get this error installing 'ocl-icd-opencl-dev' would remedy the problem and things were fine.
After installing, 'ocl-icd-opencl-dev', the 'no OpenCL' error did indeed go away and so did my PPD. At this point I'm doing about 700k PPD. My fah key is in place, I've been actively folding forever with no extended inactive periods, and my gpu TPF is normal at 1min,30sec., but currently poor PPD.
While in the process of diagnosing the problem, removing the gpu slot and reinstalling with only the 'client-type=advanced' option added to whatever the defaults are I got the 'gpu slot disabled error' as well Unfortunately I uninstalled the client at that point and reinstalled without capturing the logging of that error.
Perhaps I've never noticed this, but in the 'System Info' portion of the fah log I see the GPU isn't notated, only the CPU which doesn't seem right.
That's pretty much the info I can offer at this point. After reinstalling fah both slots, cpu and gpu, are fold away as normal, for this setup, with very low PPD being generated by the gpu.
Any thoughts are appreciated.

Re: Clean Mint21.1 PPD, Very Low After Reinstall.

Using the F@h Bonus points calculator - http://www.linuxforge.net/bonuscalc2.php - from the two data points from your log on the progress of your GPU WU gives a PPD of about 1.4M. If your client is showing a lower number that is from the fresh install. The client maintains a database of information on projects it has worked on to improve initial estimates of ETAs and PPD. Otherwise it takes completing several percent of a WU before the estimates will be accurate. Before then the estimates are based on the timeout values connected to the WU and its project.

You are spot on, Sir. Things have already begun to improve. Looks like I got little too nervous. Thanks
