Future of OpenCL vs. Vulkan and F@H?

Post by FaaR »

With OCL becoming increasingly deprecated and outdated, is there any roadmap for migrating GPU F@H cores towards Vulkan instead for non-Nvidia GPUs?

Vulkan is a graphics API, so no ...

But I heard rumours about HIP support for AMD GPUs being added to OpenMM ...

For anyone with special interest, or even Molecular Dynamics simulation knowledge, you can read the updates to this pull request. Seems they're still making some adjustments to the folding code, so there's no time estimate for when AMD HIP support becomes available in F@H, but they're making progress. https://github.com/openmm/openmm/pull/3338
