RTX 2080Ti not detected [Solved]

Post by inugames »

RTX 2080 Ti, Win10, just updated the drivers.

System Info says: GPUs 0

What can I do? Do I need to download something else than nvidia game-ready driver?

Edit:

Solution: the file called GPUs txt wasn't downloaded properly.

I downloaded the file from here: https://apps.foldingathome.org/GPUs.txt

and saved it into: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\FAHClient

now it works.

Hey fellow newbie.... I think it might be detecting it. In the FAHControl - F@C Client Advanced Control app, under System Info, System section, it also says GPUs 0. However, it was definitely using my GPU last night after I installed it.

The next two lines down, what do you have? Here is mine (EVGA 2080 Super FTW3):

CUDA Device 0 / Platform:0 Device:0 Bus:45 Slot:0 Compute:7.5 Driver:10.2
OpenCL Device 0 / Platform:0 Device:0 Bus:45 Slot:0 Compute:1.2 Driver:442.59

Also, I downloaded the newest driver yesterday using the GeForce Experience app for some COD:MW action.

The problem right now might because I think the servers are just slammed. Both slots (cpu:15 and gpu:0) say 'Waiting On WS Assignment', next attempt in 40 min for one, 4 hr 50 min for the other.

Be patient, and good luck!

when you updated, where did you update from. you need to update from nvidia's site to ensure all the components are installed.

I am hoping all is right with your world, if not, we need the first 200 lines of the log to see what the PC thinks is wrong.

Hi everybody
Drivers are from today.
I also have Cuda/OpenCL device in the log, but I don't have a GPU slot and when I try to add one it says: no GPU found

By "all components" you mean Geforce Experience too? I hate this thing lol, but I'm willing to make sacrifices for science!

I have another PC with 2070S and it works allright, even that it took some time to find the assignment. But all slots are here.

edit: actually, I just remembered, I also run Cuda sfuff, like UE4 Gpu Lightmass, so cude drivers should be here.

This is the log:

Welcome to Folding@Home!

17:45:57:WARNING:WU00:FS00:Failed to get ID from '18.218.241.186:80': 10001: Server responded: HTTP_NOT_FOUND

Your PC and F@H's server are not communicating. The servers have been swamped since Friday.

But maybe your firewall is keeping you from getting out. I would desable the firewall for 10 minutes and check to see if F@H cat communicate with the server.

If so, you need to allow F@H to use ports 80 and 8080 if it still does not wok, it is a server issue.

There is a file GPUs.txt that whitelists the available Graphics cards you can use. You cannot download that, so see no GPUs.

One way to force your PC to download a new one is to delete the current version. It should try to download a new one with a new list of all known cards. (it serves as both a white list and a black list)

Hi Palmer and than you for the suggestion.
I disabled the firewall and reinstalled the program.
Unfortunately it still not seeing the GPU.

When I try to add it viaConfigure>Slot it says "On client local: No available GPUs

Okay, I downloaded the file from here: https://apps.foldingathome.org/GPUs.txt

and saved it into: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\FAHClient

and now it works! I can use the GPU

PS: I hated study protein folding during my phd, so now it's the vengeance it seems lol
