Problem with console version.

Post by M0CZY »

I am trying out fahclient_7.4.2-32bit-release console version with my Nvidia GT 610.
I have downloaded a work unit, but it won't run, and a box appears saying "cudart32_30_14.dll not found".
This file, along with several other .dll files, is in a subfolder called win32 inside my fahclient_7.4.2-32bit-release folder.
Am I supposed to copy them somewhere, and if so, where?

Hello M0CZY, welcome to the folding forum.

By "console version" to you mean running the V7 client from a command line in a DOS box?

There is some info on running V7 in a command line here: Windows Install Guide: Command Line Options

Yes, I have been running the command line only stand alone FAHClient tarball successfully on another computer with CPU only for some time now, but I want to get it working on my Windows XP computer which has a GT 610 GPU, and has Nvidia driver 334.89 installed.

I have searched the forum, but I can't find out what needs to be done about the"cudart32_30_14.dll not found" message, even though this file is present in the fahclient folder.

Can you please post the log file here within the code tags (available in Full Editor) to see what FAHClient is detecting on your system?

This error message was observed with v6 GPU3 F@H Client (viewtopic.php?f=59&t=17647). I don't recall this with V7 F@H Client.

It's not a common V7 error because most people run the V7 client installer, which puts the needed files in the right locations.

As noted on the install guide, command line folding is an expert level option, so no support is given because experts don't need support. Experts already know this, or know how to figure it out. ;)

It's all right, no need to panic, I've sussed it out.
It seems I needed to copy all the .dll files from the win32 subfolder into my main fahclient folder.
I've configured a single GPU slot, which seems to be running correctly now, and according to GPUZ, my GT 610 is running at 100%, and is at 90°C.
I've always run the console version, never the installed client, and I certainly don't want any .NET framework junk on my machine!

That's an interesting comment.

FYI, Your machine is already loaded with .Net junk. It's Windows, all recent versions have it.

And Fah doesn't add any .Net stuff, just uses what's already there, like a lot of other applications you run and you don't even know it.

Not sure what you have against .Net, but if you don't want to use it, you would need to run Linux. ;)
