No FAH Core Update
One of my computers has been unable to get a core update after multiple tries over two days. Another computer on the same WiFi network can't seem to download a WP. Any suggestions?
Re: No FAH Core Update
Welcome to the folding forum, Head_Geezer!
First thing to do is to post the log here including the system config.
Second, 2 weekends ago there was a problem with the servers causing similar errors to what you describe. If its the same issue, it can be determined by posting the log file as mentioned, and a proper solution can be given to you.

Re: No FAH Core Update
Could you please post the contents of your log files of each computer, as described here?Head_Geezer wrote:One of my computers has been unable to get a core update after multiple tries over two days. Another computer on the same WiFi network can't seem to download a WP. Any suggestions?
That will provide some information about what is happening in your computers. Thanks!

Re: No FAH Core Update
We don't need the entire log, please post the beginning that shows the system configuration and a section including the point where the errors are first reported. The context in which those failure messages occurred is important.

Re: No FAH Core Update
Yes, that provides the needed information. Two weekends ago there was an error in the Assignment Server code that assigned the wrong type of work to ATI folders, see this topic. Directions for getting rid of the wrong WU are in this post. The AS problem has been cleared up, so once you get the wrong type WU cleared out you should be able to download one that will process on your Radeon GPU.

Deleting that file worked! Thanks much. BTW, the other computer, which is almost dedicated to FAH(!), was having a problem due to no Internet connection. I only use the computer for other purposes every now and then and hadn't noticed. Good to go!

Re: No FAH Core Update
You can set up a remote connection and use V7 to monitor/control F@h on the other machine.Head_Geezer wrote:Deleting that file worked! Thanks much. F@h is now the top computing platform on the planet and nothing unites people like a dedicated fight against a common enemy. This virus affects all of us. Lets end it together.

Re: No FAH Core Update
You probably need to delete the GPU folding slot and recreate it to get the client to stop trying to download the wrong core. Pause folding first, remove the GPU folding slot and that will also delete any WU for that slot when you restart. Then add a GPU slot.

Re: No FAH Core Update
I deleted the GPU slot, but in trying to add one back in it wants name and option, something I don't know. Here's what the log looks like:

Re: No FAH Core Update
Did you click on the OK or the Add button below the window to add a slot after selecting the GPU type? Clicking on the Add button brings up the name and option popup to add slot options such as client-type advanced. If you don't need to add any options, just click on OK and save the changes.

Re: No FAH Core Update
That seemed to do it. BTW, I always have an indication that things are right with FAH as the fan will come on in my HP laptop indicating that the core i7 processor is absolutely SLAMMING gates open and shut!
