Re: Ability to abort/cancel a workunit?

"(right click in url bar) > Privacy and security" doesn't exist in my Chrome. I have "not secure" left of the address. I have multiple computers. If I block insecure stuff in the settings, I can see localhost, but not the others on the network. Looks like the security adjustment ...

Re: Ability to abort/cancel a workunit?

Chrome's messages are nonsensical, if I've blocked the unsecure connections, why does it have anything to say? If I haven't blocked them, why isn't it telling me what you just have? So what's the way round this? The clients have to do https too? I wish https had never been invented, it causes no end...

Re: Ability to abort/cancel a workunit?

I'd also add having to bypass security on the browser may be something many folk are not prepared to do. I don't really understand it, Chrome tells me the site is insecure, even though I've told it to allow insecure parts. Yet if I click on it, it says the certificate is valid, so what's the problem...

Re: Ability to abort/cancel a workunit?

I've found nothing missing from 8. What is it I can't do? All I've found is it's much easier to use.

Re: Ability to abort/cancel a workunit?

Oh, I assumed both versions had the bin button. I also assumed we were all on the latest version. 8 is so much better than 7.

Re: Ability to abort/cancel a workunit?

Both a 24 CPU and a 32 CPU core (my machine has 56 virtual cores) What do you mean? How many are real cores? No point in putting two programs onto one real core. I believe you can delete their slots in FAHControl and the WUs will get dumped properly. It will still count as failures against your qui...

Re: Fast GPU, not enough CPU power to keep up?

It depends where you put the panels, if you can place them not to interfere with the structure of the house, perhaps just sat on top of the flat roof garage? Or at the bottom of the garden somewhere? Best not to rent anyway, buy a bit of land in the middle of nowhere, build a log cabin on it, and yo...

Re: Fast GPU, not enough CPU power to keep up?

I find it much easier to watch the temperature of the card, and/or it's % usage in MSI afterburner:

Re: Fast GPU, not enough CPU power to keep up?

Since WUs vary in size, surely using TPF to judge how fast your card is running is pointless?

Re: Fast GPU, not enough CPU power to keep up?

I think its fair to consider PPD a measure of performance, as why else does it exist if its not weighted against which projects are more urgent or more complex? That's the problem. Today you might get x PPD, tomorrow you get 1.2x PPD. Did your computer speed up, or were the projects more urgent, or...

Re: Many GPUs on one machine

I've used every vendor, and have never noticed one being better than others. It's like cars, they all wear out equally. They may have slightly different designs for cooling etc, but they're very similar. I saw a strange card recently, the RAM wasn't joined to the heatsink, just relying on airflow. I...

Re: Fast GPU, not enough CPU power to keep up?

When I run the CPU on Folding (or another project), I don't see GPU Folding slow down unless I overdo it. Leaving a core or three free is sufficient. The easiest way is to watch the temperature and/or usage of the GPU in something like MSI Afterburner (works on non-MSI cards, and also monitors the C...

Re: Many GPUs on one machine

No, my stuff is cobbled together from what's available and cheap. My GPUs aren't even inside the cases, I use mining risers on USB cables.

Re: Many GPUs on one machine

I had a machine where the SSD suddenly failed to be detected. I pushed the SATA lead's connection on the motherboard end (lightly, not violently), and then I couldn't boot either. The motherboard and the SSD are now broken. Assuming it wasn't me as I was careful, I'm guessing the disk controller was...

Re: Many GPUs on one machine

Are you saying you fixed the GPU by moving something?
