Re: Wuhan Corona Virus

The project is still in beta testing. ETA for full Folding@home is within a week according to Dr. Chodera .... it will utilize core22 GPU type work units on 7.4.1. Users will likely not be able to select COVID-19 projects specifically ... they will be distributed by priority under the "Any Dise...

Re: Wuhan Corona Virus

This is AWESOME ... talk about quick response. Thank you Drs. Chodera and Bowman for getting our community in front of the Novel coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis!

Re: Wuhan Corona Virus

This discussion leads me to a followon question. The last notable collaborations between China and the folding@home consortium were the Bryostatin studies resulting in some interesting papers. Has the trade war impacted data sharing, and student exchange between the consortium and HKUST who are like...

Wuhan Corona Virus / COVID-19 / SARS-CoV-2

Looking through past Folding@home projects and papers, I haven't been able to find much on SARS or other Corona viruses ... Although this may be asking a lot - I think to attract new participants in the network, FAH has to become more timely. When I've told people about FAH, their immediate question...

Re: Bryostatin related research papers "might" acknowledge F

Thanks again Bruce. I'm definitely not giving up :) - it's just hard to find "cycles" to research these topics that should be "no brainers" when personally dealing with aging relatives who sufferi from some of the same diseases we're trying to understand and hopefully cure. I sho...

Re: Bryostatin related research papers "might" acknowledge F

So far, no response from Mr. Ryckbosch ... I have a couple of contacts in academia who have access to international science journals who could connect the dots for the whole community (most of us can't afford journal subscriptions just to satisfy curiosity about how this work proliferates throughout...

Re: Bryostatin related research papers "might" acknowledge F

Thanks - I'll try his Stanford contact email to see if he responds. He's working for Emerald Cloud Lab these days, so I can't get his direct contact, but fingers crossed.

Bryostatin related research papers "might" acknowledge FaH?

Hello, I've recently found some papers related to Bryostatin research that might contain citations related to FaH projects 1. Advances in exploring the therapeutic potential of marine natural products. 2. Unlocking the Drug Potential of the Bryostatin Family: Recent Advances in Product Synthesis and...

Updated Infrastructure at Folding@home (related changes)

Hey there - I was wondering if there's a manifest of changes coming as a result of the Folding@home infrastructure upgrades ... 1. Will PPD continue to be reported through the same mechanism and server IPs? 2. Any changes to the formatting of the JSON data that would affect existing 3rd party tools,...

Re: Rapamycin and TR4 (Banana fungus)

No one has tackled this, perhaps no one can, so I will try to explain why we don't know. F@H data is 'open source', just like open source software there are many options. Nothing to be sorry for :) ... I've worked on open source projects and referenced code samples, so the sharing paradigm is famil...

Rapamycin and TR4 (Banana fungus)

Are there any results from the Rapamycin studies ( projects 10491-10499 ) that could lead to solving the Cavendish Banana Fusarium Oxysporum (#TR4) fungus problem currently threatening crop yields around the world? Monoculture is the underlying cause, but could targeted antifungals be a bridge in th...

Notes on FLOPS calculations

1. the FLOPS description page reference from the OS stats is currently blank: https://foldingathome.org/faqs/flops/ 2. the way FLOPS are calculated is a bit misleading because they are stated as available computational power over the course of 50 days Active CPUS are defined as those which have retu...

Re: Projects 9000-9040 psummary doesn't list HIV/AIDS/Bryost

I believe the work on Bryostatin and Src kinase are both "complete" in the sense that the researchers answered the questions they wanted to address, published the papers, and have now moved on to the next stages of their careers. I'm optimistic the work that has been done will inspire new...
