Re: 32 max threads on windows?

One possible solution to it, that may or may not work, is to use a VM to run a few instances of FAH. That way you can run core 0 with 32 threads, and another instance using core 1. This should double your core count. The only Windows solution to this, is to buy Windows Enterprise, which can handle u...

Re: Helpful to adjust core/memory clock and power limits?

@MeeLee My biggest takeaway is that your systems are outside, exposed to the weather, and they're unstable. Yeah, for now. I wouldn't recommend it, even though you save a lot of AC cost in the process. I only run a bit of GPU loads in the winter nowadays. But outside air is not good for pc systems....

Re: CPU slot only using E-cores on i7-12700

There are some people aiming for PPD per watt, who claim that folding on the E-cores is very efficient - of course in that case they are running only one thread per E-core. I found P-cores to be nearly 50% more power efficient in F@H. Yes, P-cores consume more total power, however they outperform e...

Re: Helpful to adjust core/memory clock and power limits?

For Linux, use nvidia-smi to set power. I personally use Nvidia X-Server for overclocking and fan speed (GUI). The features will enable after doing a coolbits=28. For Windows, you can use any overclocking tool from any major card manufacturer. MSI Afterburner, EVGA precision software (XOC or X1), PN...

Re: FAH Overall Rank

The A2000 will be my second card behind RTX 3070 ti. I expect the blower style will reduce the parasitic heat trap from being in the second slot. I am currently running similar on Linux using "Cool-bits" to cap RTX 2070 power to 160w and still contributing over 3 million ppd with total sy...

Re: Helpful to adjust core/memory clock and power limits?

I presume you're talking about folding on an Nvidia GPU? If so, I'd have to argue different from aetch. The memory is rated at 15Gbps, but from the factory tuned to 13-14Gbps. So in many cases you can overclock the memory by 500/1000Mhz (depending on the program you use). If the program says 7Ghz, y...

Re: FAH Overall Rank

I am very jazzed that I discovered an RTX A2000 card exists. 3,000+ CUDA cores and runs at PCIe rated watts <75w, so no power from power supply. Replace my GTX 1650 with 800 CUDA cores. Backordered, of course :D The core frequency is about half of RTX 3000 GPUs. The cooling is also blower format. T...

Re: How to set maximum CPU utilisation %

coil whine shouldn't happen when a CPU is using less than 80% of max power levels. It usually comes when the CPU is using 100% of the power the VRAM, and has wait times, where the capacitors recharge. The charge/discharge of the capacitors is what causes 'coil whine', and isn't related to any actual...

Re: How to set maximum CPU utilisation %

I think Fah does best with more cores at a lower frequency (disable turbo boost), rather than fewer cores at a higher frequency. You can also disable hyperthreading. That will allow more L-Cache per core. I don't have experience with this CPU, but I do know that there's a relation between power cons...

Re: GT710 no longer works

I don't think it's delisted because of not being compatible, but because of not being able to finish the WUs on time.
It's tough to do with a GT 730, but a 710 is way slower.

Re: gpu not folding - cpu at very high temperature

I would disable any Hyperthreading/SMT that might be enabled in Bios, and just fold on the GPU. With just 4 cores active, boost frequencies should bump up considerably. And if you want to prevent L-cache swapping as GPU tasks switch between core 0 to 3, disable 2 more cores (running just a dual core...

Re: Initial impressions for fast ARM hardware

+ Macs Fan Control to force min 2500 rpm Final WU score: 227k PPD @30W or 7566 PPD/W Properly optimized native version will be around 10k PPD/W Are you measuring SOC power, or total system power? The PPD values in PPD/W should be measured at the power socket, not from a program like HWMonitor that ...

Windows 10 Update 21H2 GPU support under Linux

From the Windows update info on update 21H2, I read: GPU compute support for the Windows Subsystem for Linux Starting with Windows 10 version 21H2, the Windows Subsystem for Linux has full graphics processing unit (GPU) compute support. It was available to Windows Insiders, and is now available to e...

Re: Folding on Android with UserLAnd and the new Linux ARM b

From my experience with Boinc (very similar to FAH), is that most modern Android phones having an 8core ARM CPU, they can only run up to 4 cores on the A50-series (low performance) cores. Setting affinity to 5 or above usually results in overheating. Phones with 8nm or smaller lithography can run 4-...

Re: Run folding overnight?

You'll probably have to run the command automatically at a specific time. You can run an .sh file (with executable enabled), and use the at command: https://www.linuxjournal.com/content/sc ... -unix-tool I have no experience on making it run automatically from boot, but I'm sure you can figure it ou...
