Re: question about graphics card speed

games not at speciffic time, also tasks run for half a day or a hole day,i just pause when playing, seem to get tasks that can only be done if pc on 24/7 Yeah, the pauses make that you probably barely make or don't make the deadline. The current WUs are aimed at more modern GPUs, meaning modern GPUs...

Re: Linux freeze/stop working while FAH running

Check for overheating and if your PSU is powerful enough.
If you have a cheaper CHinese PSU, you'll want to stay below 80% of the total rated power draw at the wall, because they're not reliable at 100% of their rating.

Re: How to decrease temperature of the nvidia card ?

I get no problem with case temp. The fan pulse a fresh air out of the case. Only the case fan moves from about 1200 rpm to 1300 rpm. A bit noisier. I will let the things as they are. Thanks I used to run my passive 1030 GPUs with a case fan. An 80 mm case fan running at 6V, only consumes 0.25W, and...

Strange how Sony could invest millions into r&d, just to drop out of it a few years later.

Re: GPU shows "failed"

Check temperatures and if the GPU is overclocked or not.
Not the best GPU to be folding on.
A single RX or RTX GPU will outdo all 4 of them, at a much lower energy cost.

Re: Raspberry Pi 400, Raspberry Pi 64-bit OS, and FAHClient

Glad that RPi OS is finally available in 64 bits. It will be more intuitive for RPi users than using another distribution. It's probably working because Raspberry Pi os still has python 2.7 support. This is where the manager depends on. Python 2,7 and down isn't supported anymore in newer versions ...

Re: Possible surge in folding traffic soon

Somewhat OT, but I have been adding Ryzen 5000 series machines to do the FAH CPU work for several months. I like the science, though I have a bunch of GPUs (GTX 1070 on average) on FAH too. But the peptides (similar to small proteins) do well on the CPUs, and they can accomplish a lot of interestin...

Re: FAH on Ubuntu / Raspberry Pi 4 / 64bit

I wouldn't pursue this. First of all, ARM CPU WUs are sporadic (I thought in beta?).
Second of all, the Pi4B is not the fastest, not the most efficient.
You'll contribute a lot more running some GPU WUs.

Re: Possible surge in folding traffic soon

I don't see any significant increase in WU processing from IBM. I do WCG as well, but it's balanced out with other projects; which means, if WCG is down, other projects take over. Also, like pcwolf said, CPUs aren't the most optimized to run FAH on. And WCG doesn't have any GPU WUs. I think most peo...

Re: 32 max threads on windows?

I have demonstrated on a current/recent project that a single 32+ slot on one of my servers rather than two slot produced both a higher total WU per day throughput and each;/every wu was completed much faster with a single rather than with two so the answer on my kit is that a single high thread co...

Re: 32 max threads on windows?

The other question would be: What will be the best way to fold on CPU with more than 32 cores? Initially I'm tempted to say, just to use Linux, and try a workaround to use multiple instances of a program, however, Fah might actually have issues with this (trying to fold the same WUs twice, or crash/...

Re: 32 max threads on windows?

...again... No one is speaking of licensing cores. The license I'm talking about is the license of Windows enterprise, it doesn't get bought in a store like windows Home or Pro. Nothing to do with licensing cores. And yes, there is an operating system limitation, and that's what I'm talking about. B...

Re: Helpful to adjust core/memory clock and power limits?

What would actually work best, is a water cooling system using a heat pump. Much more efficient than AC units, and dump the heat outside. But that's $$$$. As far as using passive systems outside, they still get full of carbon. My balcony has a mosquito net, and the carbon/particles still go through ...

Re: 32 max threads on windows?

I don't think it's a 32-bit issue. It's just how windows is made. The only Windows solution to this, is to buy Windows Enterprise, which can handle up to 128 threads, but costs you a monthly fee (unlike most other Windows versions which only cost you the purchase price at the beginning). This is inc...
