Re: Top GPUs for Folding@Home
With all the charts, a new way to benchmark, and talks of a spreadsheet.... you should all tremble in fear. When I unleash the on board Vega 11 graphics on this 2400G things are going to get heated! (yes that was completely tongue in cheek) Being serious now, I'm surprised with so many peo...

Re: Ryzen 3900X undervolting and limiting clock speed
Another option would be to buy a good CPU cooler and case fans. Your CPU should be silent at full load even at more than 4GHz But on the flip side, why would you want higher power consumption regardless? It appears in this case productivity stayed up, while power consumption and noise stayed down.....

Re: CPU too hot while folding? A good solution
Indeed, with my former system (Intel), I could do that, but the temperature of those Threadrippers literally jumps passed the base speed, if you don't have a very powerful cooling solution. With my first AIO, it was easily be 20C for an increase of 0.1-0.2 GHz. It's really like a turbo... Holy crap...

Re: XFX RX590 Fatboy OC+ Tips
Well there are a lot of reasons why thew 3000 series CPU's are faster: memory pipes, Threads, etc but i only have the 2000 series in the Ryzen 5 class. I leave the setting on 4 (1 thread for GPU, and the rest for F@H) which means it uses all but one thread for the CPU and the last is for the GPU (t...

Re: XFX RX590 Fatboy OC+ Tips
If you have only fairly modern integrated GPU from AMD, it is always worth a try to set that going, providing you have good cooling. In most ases modern AMD integrated GPUs are theoretically a lot more powerful than CPUs next to them. That is what I'm doing now, and your statements are correct. Usi...

Re: CPU too hot while folding? A good solution
You can also limit heat using the FOH settings. Just tinkering earlier on my lowly 2400G system, I was adjusting CPU numbers to bring the temp where I wanted it. I had seen mention in another thread that when not all cores/threads are in use, the boost frequencies can jump higher and still not cause...

Re: XFX RX590 Fatboy OC+ Tips
Well that just shows us how fast the technology grows. The 3900x is giving fairly amazing CPU throughput with folding. Are your numbers for all available cores running in line with your example of just the two cores running on a slot? As for core/thread resources, I have few hassles. I've only run a...

Re: XFX RX590 Fatboy OC+ Tips
16-17k from Integrated GPU? That's exactly the same as 1c/2t 3000series Ryzen :) 1c/2t = 1 core /2 threads ? If so I didn't know such a Ryzen existed. I know of the 3s and the 5s, but only know of 2 onboard graphics integrated types, being Vega 8 and 11. If you are speaking of the supposed upcoming...

Re: XFX RX590 Fatboy OC+ Tips
Do you have the CPU or the Vega 11 on board overclocked? Just thinking about possible answers, as the 2400G onboard on my system will do a work unit much faster than you are stating it was taking for you. It's no powerhouse by any means, but can do 16-17,000 points per day. Also curious what your CP...

Re: Give more powerful clients the opportunity to race for W
If it didn't waste a bunch of resources, I could actually to some extent go along with such a thing, even though I have a much less capable system than a lot of people that do folding. But a downside might be that fewer and fewer people would actually even bother folding when they have less powerful...

Thanks for the responses. The timeout limits are generous enough that just about anything that will fold should be able to handle it.

Mine varies from high 16s to low 17s with the GPU only.
It's not much, but it's something.

My 2400G detected as the Vega 8 Mobile and has been folding just fine. Well, slow obviously, but better than nothing!Joe_H wrote:Already present in the GPUs.txt file, this shares the same device ID, 1002:15dd, as the Vega 8 Mobile and should be configurable.

Re: Why are CPU projects worth so few points relative to GPU
FAH is not waiting around 8 days for your GT430 to finish it, but it's certainly possible that on somebody else's machiine that may be sort of true. They're waiting around to give the GT430 credit for trying. FAH waiting one day for that WU to be completed. Once the WU reaches the 1-day timeout, th...
