Re: RTX 4090
This info would be great info to have even on launch day (hopefully when your NDA is over). As folders we usually have not info to go off of until weeks after the gaming reviews are out.

It’s a preference… not a rule.

Re: Help building out a folding machine (motherboard specifically)
The EVGA X99 FTW isn't really a "mining" board, but it indeed looks like a very good board for multi-GPU. You are correct, it is not a mining board, but it’s installed on a “mining rack” with pcie 3.0x16 risers to each card. So far still only running 3 3060’s on it, but the PPD is right w...

Just checked Newegg, looks to be in stock for $468.

Re: Help building out a folding machine (motherboard specifically)
I recently just set up a ‘mining’ rack but using an EVGA X99 that i got from EVGA’s B-Stock sales. With the 40 Lane PCIe 5960X ($90 from EBay) it can run the (5) 3.0 x16 slots in x8 mode. So far I only have 3 GPU’s on it (3060ti, 3060ti, 3060), but it seems to be doing very well.

Re: Lack of cancer work units?
I run primarily set cancer as my default on all systems. I have seen some of them running other projects, but then the Cancer WU’s come back.

Re: Help building out a folding machine (motherboard specifically)
Just for some ideas, take a look at my folding rigs here: https://w6nikreport.com/foldinghome-setup
Notice that I do decently well with GPU’s with 2 - 2.2 slot spacing, but there are 2.75 slot GPU’s that will restrict the placement of a second GPU.

Re: Smaller work units to get rid of wasted CPU time, please
On a few of my systems I fold them at night. I have found that limiting my CPU threads to 4 keeps the WU's small and i do not get the large WU that even my 5900x take days to perform.

Re: Suggestion to discourage cherry picking
Although I have never 'Cherry Picked', there is more than one way to 'game' the system for 'points'. I have been folding since March of 2020 and have nearly 6.5 billion points to date. I started with 2 average computers with 2700X's, one with an RX580 and the other a 1060. Since then I went crazy an...

Re: New RTX3xxx cards
Well... I dabbled at trying to get a 3080 ordered this morning. Yeah, that didn't work out with the websites crashing and apparently low supply... o-well TIme is on my side for getting one at some point. Nvidia GPUs be like: https://thumbs.gfycat.com/MiniatureSpanishBetafish-size_restricted.gif Pre...

Re: Best Buy and 3080's
Newegg, EVGA both crashing for the first 20 minutes of 6am (Pacific Time). An Amazon search for the RTX 3080 only netted 2080 results, which I thought was odd?? Bestbuy was showing sold out after 5 minutes when I looked.... It is what it is! I have time and i am in no hurry. Just hope some folders w...

Re: About 2 x GPUs and heat problems
My 2 GPU’s are both twin fan EVGA’s. The upper is a 2060 Super and the lower a 2060. The GPU temps have not really altered with or without the CPU folding / the CPU air cooler running (a Noctua D15). The upper 2060 fans are running at 83%, is power limited to 75% and is right now 63c. The lower GPU ...
