A folder from 2002! Is there anyone that has been folding for longer than you?

Re: Over 2 exaflops!

There is a significant increase in the number of Nvidia GPUs, from 220000 two weeks ago to 423000 today, all the increase is on linux machines. What is that? A test farm installed by NVidia to test their upcoming 30xx consumer grade GPUs? All other machine numbers (Windows Nvidia, AMD on Linux and ...

Re: Reinfections? [URL]

This is definitely a reason to keep folding. We're back up to 1.7 exaflops which is very encouraging!

I'm not at all active on Twitter but I like this idea! Good luck and I hope we can get some new folders this way.

Re: New Ryzen CPUs faster than last gen GPUs?

After running an AMD 3970X (and some last gen GPUs) for a month I wanted to add my perspective. It's a great CPU for me. I'm usually running many Docker containers (often within a VM) for my development work. After years of dual Xeon boards I made the switch to a single CPU because it has an ample ...

Re: Please add Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620

Intel GPUs are not yet supported. I don't believe there is a specific deadline when they plan to launch support.

Re: Too short deadlines

So unless I manage to complete my WUs in less than 8 hours, my contribution is just slowing down the project, which is very disapointing... Not slowing down the project by much if at all. We get "power users" who overstate that quite often, examples here in this topic. The researchers do ...

Citizen Scientists Create an Exascale Computer to Combat COVID-19 The SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19 pandemic continues to threaten global health and socioeconomic stability. Experiments have revealed snapshots of many of the viral components but remain blind to moving parts of these molecular machines. To ca...

Re: Did FAH ever consider to move to BOINC?

Rosetta does not/barely simulate the protein folding process. They predict the 3D structure of proteins computationally and design new proteins.

Re: Too short deadlines

Abandoning a WU hurts the science, so that's not a good strategy.

Re: Too short deadlines

As of now, it is not possible to ask for a particular deadline. The server will just match your hardware with the work units, but that's about it. If you don't return a WU in time, it will be assigned to someone else. If you nevertheless finish it, the system will give you some points for that, but...
