Re: Error after reboot next day, starting new jobs
I had that behaviour happen on Windows 10 a couple of times initially so always pause any folding before shutting down or restarting the machine now. In the evenings I tend to hit the Finish button in the Advanced GUI, then leave the machine on for at least 10 minutes after that says the slots are p...

Re: FAH packages available on a new repo for Debian and Ubun
Just those few worked actually, I am not in the habit about lying over such matters. Of course some other packages I had previously installed may have drawn some libraries from focal repositories that are required but if you can prove otherwise with apt terminal output from a clean install of ubuntu...

Re: Comfortable Hardware Temperature
There's also the issue of M.2 slots for nvme drives in close proximity to PCI-E slots on motherboards. Anything over 55C is flagged as too hot for an EVO 970 for example by Samsung Magician software. They use PCI-E bus so the circuit layout partly dictates the location just as much as the required f...

Re: Comfortable Hardware Temperature
They are still essentially a desktop replacement laptop bolted to the rear of a screen and share many of the same cooling compromises. So using an i5 or i7 from the extensive range available with a high TJunction value is to be expected.

Re: Client 7.6.13 in Medium settings use 96% of my GPU
The size and number of fans is irrelevant if the static pressure and CFM values for them are too low. If you have to throttle the GPU it indicates you possibly need better case fans.

Re: Windows & Linux Conurrently
not really a good idea, you would be dividing the same hardware resources between the two running clients and it would not gain you or the project anything. if you have another machine running linux you can set folding then it's possible to do that with the same username and passkey as the windows i...

Re: FAH packages available on a new repo for Debian and Ubun
Use these instructions at your own risk, I have a Timeshift backup should anything stop working to roll back to. Here's what I just did for Ubuntu 20.04 following the instructions here , please read and refer to them BUT install the packages below before attempting to install fahcontrol in step 2: s...

Re: My ranking keeps getting worse
So do I, I use it on my windows machine, I especially like the log view function but I am not able to get it working with Ubuntu 20.04 (there's a modified build but that doesn't work either). I was using Manjaro KDE before and had no problems whatsoever with the arch builds of the client. EDIT - got...

Re: Comfortable Hardware Temperature
Amusingly it's hotter here in North Wales today than it is in Brasilia, I only looked because of that Core i5's temperature. However, it's an iMac (all-in-one?) according to NBR's profile so no doubt has a laptop processor and cooling system. Cooling upgrade options I have: Cheapest - Swap all facto...

Re: My ranking keeps getting worse
The only reason I look at the stats and use the signature is so I can quickly refer to it and track what my machines are doing. When my linux machine is folding (as and when I am in the office for the day) I don't have either the viewer or fahcontrol installed, webview only shows so much detail.

Re: Comfortable Hardware Temperature
Within a few degrees of thermal throttling values, so as of yet I have a good 7 or 8C before hitting that with regards the GPU temperature and it's 26C outside with 30C ambient in the room the machine is in. That to me says it would be alright on the hottest day in Summer too but I will keep an eye ...
