Re: Has folding returned to normal for you?

I've had a constant stream of GPU for the last couple of days, so it looks like things are getting better.

Re: Newbie - Overall rank = zero

A couple of times I saw this happen on my statistics also. I think it happened about the same time as I was also getting the no work units available status. Recently, I've seen something else a little odd. I find my ranking rapidly dropping. at 2454 WUs I was ranked 35,733. Today at 2617 WUs I am r...

Re: GTX 1080 Bricked while folding? :(

I've bricked several cards over the years, a GTS 250, A GTX 275/250 combo card, a 1070Ti, 8800GTX, 2 x 1080 to name but a few. I've also bricked a couple of cards that never saw a WU in their life. They fail, sometimes quickly, sometimes they go on for years. Not sure on EVGA's warranty so look into...

Re: Questions

another point on server space, given Covid19 is a global problem, any datacentre/cloud provider would suffer a PR nightmare if they refused to help. So far AWS, Azure, Avast, Linus Media group (LTT), one of the forum mod's and Oracle have all provided server capacity - i do not know what financial t...

Re: Top GPUs for Folding@Home

Vega is so hit and miss, you can get 1M PPD out of one if the project has enough atoms, if the projects are on the smaller side performance tanks.

No, we should be suggesting that anyone blacklists a server. Tthat's been classed as cherry picking in the past and users have had their points wiped as a result

Re: 140.163.0.0/16: blacklisting MSKCC via FW

If you are not happy then don't run the software. You have absolutely no idea how hard people are working in the background to get additional servers online, upgrade the server software to handle an increased load, generate the work units and somehow actually do something with the data that we have ...

Re: Top GPUs for Folding@Home

Using a card for folding that you bought for gaming is great but if you're building a rig just for folding do not buy new. Second-hand cards are always better bang for buck for folding. Get a low-power dual-core like a G4400, 4GB RAM, 1070, 80GB SSD, install Linux Mint and you could be cranking out...

When you do take it apart there are a couple of good video's on how to do it and what to look for on youtube. Gamersnexus has done the best ones.

Re: Ryzen 3900X undervolting and limiting clock speed

PBO and stock coolers do not go together well. While the AMD cooler is reasonable its really only designed to run everything at stock speed. PBO will boost the cpu as far as the cooling will take it which for the AMD coolers means a fan running at very high speed. Long term I would suggest saving so...

Re: CPU too hot while folding? A good solution

Just be careful trying to use an AIO with threadripper, most of them don't have a cold plate big enough to cover the entire processor. The one that does have a big enough cold plate, the enermax, has been plagued with issues and isn't recommended. The only way to get the enermax to work as it should...

Re: Gigabyte RTX 2060 Super Gaming OC

There's no need to overclock the memory on the gpu, FAH won't get any benefit from it.
