Folding priority on multi use machines?
Just question for those that use their folding machines for other regular tasks. I'm seeing a trend lately that either the newer projects or possibly a change in Win 10 update settings allows for folding to be slowed down greater if running in the background. Our system probably gets used at least 4...

Re: Bad work unit, massive reassignments, ongoing
Yep, the more I dug into those other failures the more I thought something is wrong. Humans and our mistakes, just glad I checked it out after it failed for me. Thanks for passing on the word Joe.

Re: Bad work unit, massive reassignments, ongoing
After a second look I see what you are saying. I looked at the top of the failures and saw the time gaps every 5 failures, and missed that it's still been going out daily for a few months now. Well not maybe instead of egg on my face I feel like I might have lucked into something useful to pass alon...

Re: Points Earned Mysteriously Changed/No Longer Accumulating
There is currently a problem with the 7.6.xx version of web control where it's not displaying points. As far as I know, everything else is still functioning.... https://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?p=362161&hilit=points+display#p362161 From my understanding it's fine if you use advanced contro...

Re: Bad work unit, massive reassignments, ongoing
Joe, I suspect they are going to tell us not to worry about it. I was getting ready to head out the door when I looked at it and posted. Just as I was getting ready to power down the monitor I noticed that there were gaps and the assignments stop after a few failed attempts. I suspect it is somethin...

Bad work unit, massive reassignments, ongoing

Passed for the researchers info. I was checking a bad work unit and found the above.

Re: No work assigments...
Yeah, had two in Ready State earlier this morning, ow a different one in Ready. Guess we are near the end of work for F@H… and isn’t just some random problem to be fixed. From my understanding of the system used to assign, it's simply a matter of there not currently being enough work that suits the...

Re: RTX 4090....underperforming?
Interesting catch Lazvon. On my 1660 Super P12424 is one of the most predictable projects, consistent in points returns as well as responding in an almost linear fashion to power level changes. Others seem to be hit and miss, some very stable, some often having a 20-40% points return difference. I w...

Re: Project 12103 taking too long
That should be better information if they have time to take a look. From my understanding the assignments are a bit trickier for AMD GPUs because they use the same device ID for a sometimes broad selection of GPUs. That makes it harder to nail down the specifics of the various species break downs as...

Re: My 2-year anniversary of folding
I would suggest you do something quickly with those extra gpus. Being in the top one 1000th of a percentile is just kind of...meh. Seriously though, I'm glad there are people like you who dedicate so many resources to the cause. It adds up to a lot more science, and the efforts are appreciated...

Re: Project 12103 taking too long
Giving the most information you can is more productive. Answers to uestions such as the below might be helpful to the people making the assignments. Are you folding 24/7? If not, how many hours per day do you fold? Are your gpus or any other part of your computer running power limited or in any sens...

Re: Switch preference to Parkinsons for highest PPD
I haven't really paid much attention to it lately. At times certain preferences might help, but that also depends on the level of hardware you are running. I have in the past used preferences to avoid certain work units that my older gear wouldn't finish on time. Now that I have a newer GPU I really...

Re: Fahcore_23 v8.0.3 project:17116 run:5 clone:470 gen:0 core:0x23 Hangs at 100%
I've had one of them run without any issue. No delays or anything strange in the logs (other than the single checkpoint) that I could see.

Re: Bigger tasks?
I'm not quite sure how the people involved determine the details of folding time expected, but in some cases the variety of hardware makes it hard regardless. As for cards that used to time out not doing so lately, I think @musiqaz and possibly others were involved in breaking down the species categ...

Re: Bigger tasks?
That is a function of how they are assigned, and where your card(s) lie within a species assignment, along with whatever factors in how broad a brush they assign them to for them to complete in the desired time. If your GPU's are on the lower end of the assignment, they might not have much extra tim...
