Re: Points Drop
It seems like your work unit count is high for the GPU, but that might just be the freak luck of the assignment server and your card species. It might be worth checking out your performance vs the average for those with the same GPU on https://folding.lar.systems/ If you use the drop down for "...

Re: Points Drop
There are a number of things which can impact points, but the luck of the assignment server alone can be a big factor at times. If you frequently use the system for other things that has impact as well. Looking at logs will tell you if you have had any errors that caused folding to restart from a ch...

Re: Curious different PPD Linux v. Windows 11
I have no help to offer, but if the differences were that excessive I would think that nobody would want to run Win 11 at all for folding. Most feedback I've seen seems to indicate that it works just as well as Win 10.

Re: Seeking Clarification on Folding@Home Operations During Gaming Sessions
You can get more specific answers if you let us know which version of the software you are using. There are small differences and in the case of 7.6.21 you have the web version as well as advanced control. But either way, you can pause a work unit without stopping all completed progress. Once you re...

Re: Why Fold? AI solves it.
From my understanding, no AI does NOT solve it. AI can and has been used to help locate potential areas of research, specific area and timestamps that might allow drug binding., and other such things. Only more advanced simulations can confirm or deny the specifics of what happens when proteins fold...

Re: Inconsitency on F@h stats pages
Interesting find, but I have no idea where the differences might lie. Individual vs all time rankings were only off by 1 work unit, and about 700K points between them. The strange thing is the individual showing the one extra work unit shows the lower overall points score. In my case I won't have to...

Re: PPD differences in x8 vs x16 4.0 lanes on RTX4070 and higher?
I would imagine a deep dive would show that CPU clocks/architecture/memory speeds/drive speeds/etc/etc all contribute to overall folding performance, even with slower GPU's. The newer really fast GPU's are simply fast enough to make the strengths and weaknesses more obvious, since the numbers are no...

Re: Stop after current WU completes?
With v8, you click the pause button and there will be a pop up to either pause now or finish then pause. And here I was so sure it was the other button. That's what happens when I reverted back to 7.5.21! Good catch. And good note on the "not sticky" point as well. I personally think they...

Re: What is the best Nvidia video card to get to fold the fastest?
Hi. When you change gpu options, where are the settings saved to, the registry? or a file? Thanks. I have no idea, but it might write within the driver settings. That is assuming you are asking in regards to nvidia -smi. But I'm not even sure if that would take place at all unless you used the pers...

Re: Stop after current WU completes?
If you are using the beta version 8, click on the "start folding" button. It won't give you options to pause immediately or finish the current work in it and then pause.
If you are using version 7.6.21 then you right click on the appropriate slot (s) and select finish.

Re: clGetPlatformIDs() returned -1001
Interesting find bikeaddict. I don't have the answer to your question, but it looks like the Gen following the one you looked up processed and the project continued forward, so possibly the first valid return that is made moves things along. It's very interesting that it didn't reassign to another u...

Re: What is the best Nvidia video card to get to fold the fastest?
Hi there. Is there another application that does what MSI afterburner does? I use a screen reader and when I start up the application, I can't use it because the screen is rendered in a way that screen readers can't make sense of. out of interest, the Screen reader I use is free and open source, an...

Re: Team concept
Someone who has been around longer might know the original idea behind the teams, I'm not really well informed on it. But it's a way to form groups of folders for various reasons. To show support, compete, maybe a family or company, etc and show how many people are involved in that particular group ...

Thanks toTOW.
As for Bruce, I hope he is well. The last time I had checked it had been a long time since he had logged in.
