Anyone else notice this?
I've been folding with my stock GTX 1660 for over 2 weeks, it's been very stable, no problems at all. Usually it's stable at 1860-1875MHz core clock, 100W power consumption, 70C GPU temp, PPD 500-600K. Today I got a notification of a new driver available. Then I started folding. Suddenly it won't bo...

Client behavior that should be fixed
I noticed something of an unexpected behavior that really should be fixed, if not for the 7.6 version, then the v8 client. The client was unable to get a WU, and was waiting a few minutes before retrying, then I changed my mind and decided I didn't want it to fold at that moment, so I paused the cli...

Re: Top GPUs for Folding@Home
Given we have so many folders, isn't the best way to sort this to just have a new thread asking for GPU model, core clock, OS and a PPD figure. Yes they will vary according to PRCG but with enough datapoints you'll still get a good enough average. I was thinking of setting up a website to collect P...

Re: slow slots vs fast slots
Seems to me the best way to differentiate between machines would be to have different Machine names that all belong to the same Team name/number. That way you could track which machine is doing what and how may points are awarded per WU. In the grand scheme of things, it don't mean much but it can ...

Re: Top GPUs for Folding@Home
Since the GPU configuration is the same, if the 1660 gets 20% less ppd, then we would know the extra memory bandwidth is important and needs to be factored into expected points per day per watt (which is not reflected in synthetic TFlops performance expectations) Yeah, but we need to confirm with a...

Can't upload to 128.252.203.10
Looking at the stats I can't see any issues, it's not down, and plenty of space left. So maybe just connection overload? Or does it need a restart? 14:03:35:WU00:FS01:Uploading 50.05MiB to 128.252.203.10 14:03:35:WU00:FS01:Connecting to 128.252.203.10:8080 14:03:56:WARNING:WU00:FS01:WorkServer conne...

Re: Top GPUs for Folding@Home
And what about the GTX 1600 series. FAH gains nothing from the extra features in the RTX series ... so unless your into AI or ray-tracing.... I have a 1660 super - completely stock in a well ventilated case, it’s pulling 700k - 800k ppd in Windows. I highly suspect that I’ll be able to dramatically...

Re: Ryzen R7 2700x vs R5 3600x
I would choose R7 3700X. High thread count and new AVX2-routines will make an awesome working beast both for folding and video editing. And it's within your price range of 300$ If it is possible I would suggest the R9 3900X instead of the R7 3700X. it's around $420 checking on amazon. R5 6 cores =>...

Re: Running the Linux version of FAH in Windows?
I just don't see why we need that TPF value here, as it is a comparison 1:1 between systems? If I have a better ratio Credit / Base Credit (that Excel can calculate directly on my sheets) on Linux than on Windows, that will tell us what we need to know just as well, no? My opinion is still that TPF...

Re: Running the Linux version of FAH in Windows?
Thank you Joe_H! But the TPF is a rather fleeting apparition. I have to be in front of the computer during the folding to see it, and it changes constantly. Whereas the points appear in the log and on https://apps.foldingathome.org/cpu As the machine run 24/7, I would prefer using a value that I ca...

Is there a difference between WSL1 and WSL2? I don't have Windows 10 2004 yet
