Re: Issue with Server 171.67.108.26 - Any Idea when when it

I don't think you understood what bruce was asking. There are TWO different servers and he needs to know the other one. The simplest way to find that is to post a few pages of your log containing the error.

Re: which projects on which platforms

Project 2974 and 2975 say that Code = Gro-A4 which is the new version of Gromacs. It might be assigned to either a Uniprocessor client or a SMP client. They are issued from server 143.89.28.72 which has projects for Windows, Linux, and OSX. Project 3044 says that Code = GROMACS which is the classic ...

Re: FAHWatch7

But, I didn't request that being standardized, I only asked that gpu clients also logged steps completed vs steps total if possible. It looks to me like they're doing that: 16:20:06:WU00:FS02:0x15:Setting checkpoint frequency: 500000 16:20:06:WU00:FS02:0x15:Completed 3 out of 50000000 steps (0%). 1...

Re: which projects on which platforms

The assignment process is complex and has never been fully explained. It may also change without notice. Many things have been learned about it by observing the information that's available on the server status page as well as the project summary page. All projects require a specific Fahcore. Some F...

Re: other than FAH work

Unless I'm mistaken, distributed.net OGR is ALU-only, and they even have a 64bit client available. I don't understand why you mentioned 64bit. If we're still talking about HT and sharing ALU-only with FPU-mostly code, it shouldn't matter whether it's 32bit or 64bit. Perhaps you're responding to the...

That doesn't make sense. If a WU is successfully completed it is never assigned again.

Do you mean your friend has had the same Project? A WU is only unique if all four numbers are taken into consideration.

Re: Project: 7504 (Run 1, Clone 263, Gen 21)

You mean to say that in the Task Manager, the CPU Usage is ~25% when folding this WU? Yes, that's exactly what I meant. According to Task Manager, what's happening to the other 75%? Is it Idle, or is some other process using it? You may need to enable "show tasks from all users" to see th...

Re: what is my computer actually doing?

What do you mean with your statement that your system is running 10x as hard as usual? How did you determine this? That seems like a statement that could reasonably said by most of us. He probably means that like most of us, we have a computer that is a lot more powerful than we really need. We pur...

Re: Problems with 171.67.108.17 ?

Thanks. Obviously only a very temporary prolem as it has now submitted. Not really. You need to report a different server. Your WU is failing to upload to two different servers. Half a page above the messages that say you have a problem with 171.67.108.17 you'll find more messages that say somethin...

Re: Starting Point of Simulation?

To understand the complete MSM model, you have to gather the statistics of all possible confirmations and understand the probabilites of each possible state morphing C1 C3 C3... whether you have simulations that start at state B or only the simulations that start at A and move to B are considered.

This type of problem is generally reported in the forum "Issues with a specific server" where you will often find other reports associated with the same server. A moderator will probably move it there. See Subject: Troubleshooting Server Connectivity Issues (Do This First) for more informa...

Re: Is F@h the 1st DC project to use SMP and PS3?

Under BOINC you don't need a separate SMP-client, this is a limitation of FAH's clients that is finally fixed with FAH's v7-client. FAH needed to beta an upgraded client that included the add-on MPI libraries for Windows. It wasn't really a "separate" client, but rather an extension of th...

Re: should i stick to v6 or use the beta?

Vista/Windows 7 prohibit a service from using a gpu, so unless you're running Windows XP, you'll have to keep your gpu clients visible whether they use V6 or V7. If I were in your shoes, I would upgrade my V6 service to a V7 service, leaving the V6 gpu clients alone for a while. That would allow you...

Re: Help trying to build up # of F@H machines/ WU per watt

The type of work that can be done by the gpu and by the ps3 are very similar. The software for the smp or uniprocessor is more general purpose. Don't let that bother you, though. FAH needs both types of work to be done rather than one being "better" than the other. Any machine that you buy...

Re: should i stick to v6 or use the beta?

The easiest fix for opening up in different places is to forget it until you're ready to upgrade to V7. There will be only one screen for the combined client that displays the information for all three former "clients" (except that they will no longer be called that). Whether you upgrade i...
