Re: WU and crashing systems (inefficient)

To be honest, with it dumping work units I'm not sure it's contributing anything other than heat and an electric bill. FAH does have a limit for how many times a folding core can crash before dumping the work unit, I'm not sure if it's 5 or 10. Other people will be tasked with processing the work un...

Re: WU and crashing systems (inefficient)

Warning - Long post and a steep learning curve. Backups In FAH backups are called checkpoints. For CPUs it seems to be set to 15 mins, the advanced control panel has a slider so you can adjust this but I don't know if it has any effect. For GPUs it is set by the researcher and is typically either 2%...

Re: How do I unpause?

Ah, you're using the web client.
Try hitting the button below the power slider, I suspect it's the one that says "paused finished".

I'd recommend taking a look at the advanced control panel
Start -> Folding@home -> FAHControl
It should connect to the client on the local computer.

Re: The battle for more computer power will never cease!

Thanks I couldn't see the sense in running a GPU accelerated CPU centric core running alongside a GPU dedicated core. I was envisaging a mountain of trouble with trying to run it on all the different combinations of system, up to my no-gpu system. The degradation of core21/22 performance does make s...

Re: The battle for more computer power will never cease!

A CPU centric core which needs GPU support feels like an April fools joke to me.

Is this where Bruce's thread asking about no GPU systems came from?

Re: How do I unpause?

Assuming you're using the advanced control panel one of two ways
1). click Fold (it looks like a play button), this will start every available folding slot
2). right click on the individual folding slot and select Fold from the popup menu

Re: 128.252.203.13 and 128.252.203.11

The queue is tracked in the client.db file, DO NOT DELETE.
The folders are gone, next time it tries to upload it should fail and do a proper cleanup.

Like I said, I don't know the proper way to do this.

Re: 128.252.203.13 and 128.252.203.11

TBH, I don't know the proper way to clear work units that have successfully uploaded to the server but are stuck on the client. Here's something you could try. I going to assume you're running Windows. The work queue ID represents a subfolder within the "C:\ProgramData\FAHClient\Work" fold...

Re: 128.252.203.13 and 128.252.203.11

Suggestion 1 Have you checked the server stats to see if the Work unit has uploaded? https://apps.foldingathome.org/wu Suggestion 2 Pause all folding, you might want to add the "pause-on-start true" option to your "Extra client options". Disconnect from network Reboot computer In...

Re: Please REMOVE RX560

Who's not listening? FAH listens and reacts quickly when they have created issues or they have issues on the server back-end. They have a dedicated but limited developer resource, which they pay for. They are not depending on free developers who "might" be able to do something in their fre...

I will repeat what has been said many times already

THIS IS NOT BOINC

If you love BOINC so much then devote all you resources to it.

Re: Please REMOVE RX560

My system doesn't crash and burn every few days.
Also, I'm not demanding changes to the client to work around an unstable system.

I tried to help, you're too arrogant to accept it. I'm out.

Re: Please REMOVE RX560

And it's not a mining rig, mining is a pointless utter waste of electricity, but I do use their riser hardware. 1). Your system has the topology of a mining rig, therefore it is a mining rig. The proprietary mining motherboards came along later. 2). Arguably FAH and BOINC are an even bigger waste o...

Re: Please REMOVE RX560

You're actually making a really good argument that you don't know what you're doing.
FAH is not BOINC.
FAH is not bitcoin or one of its variants.
None of the "suggestions" you have made will change the fact that your system is not setup for FAH. Please put your system onto another project.

Re: Please REMOVE RX560

Wrong, I do monitor how well they perform. It gives me about 85-90% power from the GPUs. A 280X isn't exactly fast. Sadly, I'm not wrong. Too many times people with mining rigs, just like yours, have came here for help because their system was unstable and underperforming. Just like yours they had ...
