OK, it worked. I had downloaded "dotnet-runtime-6.0.1-win-x64".
Thanks for your prompt response.

Re: HFM.NET - Monitoring Application for Folding@Home v7

Strange ... it didn't ask for it when I installed HFM, but when I started it. Actually, the same for me. It seemed to install OK, but then gave the error when I started it. I tried re-installing .NET 6.0.1, and then removing and reinstalling 9.28.1718 (following several registry cleaners and a rebo...

RE: 9.28.1718

Even with .NET 6.0.1 installed, and showing in Programs and Features on Win10 Pro, I get a warning that I need to download it when I try to install HFM.NET (.msi version).

Re: That's a lot of mutations

It has error checking. But it also has a way of swapping out one genetic sequence for another, both of which have been error checked.
So the new mutation passes the error check too.

It is very smart.

Re: Strange crash/reboot and CMOS corruption only with F@H

You haven't mentioned the disk drive, which I assume is an SSD. I don't think that I have ever had one go bad on me, but it looks like you have eliminated all other possibilities. (It isn't FAH). Also, I always use a write cache to protect the SSD. On Ubuntu, I use the built-in Linux write cache. ht...

Re: Alder Lake results

For a bit of comparison, my Ryzen 5900X (Ubuntu 20.04.3) is doing 478 kPPD on P18419.
That is a bit on the high side, it usually runs a little over 400 kPPD.

I can't measure the power directly, but it is running at 78C according to Psensor, with an Arctic II 120 mm (single fan) cooler.

And if you look at the most recent progress report, I think the answer is that they are very probably furiously considering that subject now.

They will undoubtedly know more soon, and do what should be done.

Re: AMD dropping OpenCL support?

The 21.40.1 drivers work for me on an RX 570 (Ubuntu 20.04.3). I am folding on P18431 at 356 kPPD, so that is OpenCl enough.

Re: AMD dropping OpenCL support?

This is interesting, since the new 21.40.1 drivers for Linux seem to be quite different. https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/release-notes/rn-amdgpu-unified-linux-21-40-1 But the installation instructions say that they support OpenCl. https://amdgpu-install.readthedocs.io/en/latest/install-script.html...

Re: Strange crash and CMOS corruption after switching to 308

I ran memtest86 overnight to make sure the memory timing was correct, and found no problem. As soon as I configured the system and started Folding, the crash/reboot/corrupt cmos problem happened again. And the symptoms were the same; I had to clear the CMOS to be able to reboot. It is the memory. M...

Re: New Radeon drivers - 21.10.1 - performance still seems b

I guess it helps to have an older card. On Ubuntu 20.04.3, my RX 570 performs the same on the 21.30 drivers as the previous ones. It is about 350-400k PPD or so, which is not as good as my Nvidia cards. That is why I normally use it on Einstein or sometimes MilkyWay, where the OpenCl drivers are an ...

I don't think more cores will do you much good. These work units can only use so many.
And FAH does not use much cache. And you would have to pay a lot for faster speeds. But it is your money.

Re: Project 18409/a8 EXTREMELY large WU???

I am running a P18420 on all 16 virtual cores of a Ryzen 3700X and it is taking 44 hours.
And a P18411 on all 16 virtual cores of a Ryzen 5700G (great chip for Folding by the way) is taking 37 hours.
Both are on Ubuntu 20.04.3.

Re: Which GPUs to buy 07/2021

The 1650 Super is also a good card, but the 1650 (non-super) is older gen stuff, more like a 1060. I sometimes run Folding on a 1650 Super and a 1060 on Ubuntu 20.04. Usually there is not much difference in points, and you would be hard pressed to see a difference.. I think the 1650 Super is a litt...

dephekt,

Thanks. That makes sense. I didn't think either FAH or python had changed, it was probably something else in the Ubuntu environment.
I am glad they are doing something useful.
