Re: RTX 4090 is getting 26M PPD
Looking at your review, and the others that came online today, that's an insanely fast card. I'm so tempted to find myself an excuse to spend the (probably) two grand in euros... hopefully reason will win though

Re: 18601 multiple bad work units
My trusty space heaters have been folding for this project a lot in the last couple weeks, no issues at all. One is Windows 11, RTX 3070 TI (recent drivers), the other runs Ubuntu 20.04 and has a 3060 TI (slightly older drivers, because I was too lazy to upgrade them). What specs does your machine h...

Re: Only run at certain times ?
Currently that's not a standard functionality of the client, but it can be done using the system's task scheduler. See viewtopic.php?p=356264&hilit=send+pause#p356264

Treceroute often is blocked, so is not a reliable test. Better might be to do a telnet to that address on port 80.

Re: AMD RX6000+ family GPU owners, please update to 22.7.1 drivers for optimal F@H performance
As for how the servers deal with work unit errors, as far as I understand... a certain error rate is accepted, and expected. If the error rate exceeds certain thresholds though, it will be flagged, and in extreme cases, job assignment may be halted. I don't think one could force such a situation fro...

Re: Slot settings reset after reopening F@H
The latest client has the latest fixes, I wouldn't go for an older one. Alternative:
- Finish the GPU job
- Edit the settings for the GPU slot, add the option pause-on-start, and set it to true

You should change your profile to 'Dr. Frankenstein'

Re: Run two tasks per GPU?
FAH can only run one job per GPU. I guess you can have 1 Boinc job and 1 FAH job running concurrently.

You could schedule fahclient --send-pause, fahclient --send-finish and fahclient --send-unpause from the system scheduler

Re: WU and crashing systems (inefficient)
Nvidia cards are much better for FAH compared to AMD, mostly due to drivers, and Nvidia working with FAH to optimize the software.
As to which Nvidia card to go for depends on several variables and what you aim for.

Re: WU and crashing systems (inefficient)
Hi, The client does make backups, in C:\ProgramData\FAHClient\work or /var/lib/fahclient/work, depending on OS. The client probably drops the WU for another reason, possibly because the number of errors during calculation were too high or something, the log (see FAH Control) may tell why. System sta...

Re: Threadripper 3990X slot setup / feature request
I'd say one client with two CPU slot of 24 threads each. Two clients won't work. In FAH Control you can add a new CPU slot to an existing config.

Re: Help building out a folding machine (motherboard specifically)
The 290x is released in 2013. Maybe that'd be happy with a 1x slot, but that won't work for something like an RTX card.

Re: Help building out a folding machine (motherboard specifically)
Red flag here A mining rig usually is not suitable for folding. F@h needs a proper CPU (one thread per GPU), and proper PCIe bandwidth. I suppose you're not suggesting to use a mining rig, but a comparable setup, but just to be sure.

Re: FAHcontrol not saving settings
Taking out the CPU slot out of config.xml may not persist through reboots. The client is designed to look around what hardware there is at startup, so the CPU slot may reappear. You can add <pause-on-start v='True'/> to the slot, so that it won't used for folding. When editing config.xml, be sure to...
