Re: My 2-year anniversary of folding

Finally got the 4080 folding. Ended up not replacing my main system's 3090Ti as planned (too much hassle) and just used it in the a new 12700F build.

Re: 4070ti pdd?

Does the underlying hardware not provide accurate PDD numbers? No, just knowing what kind of hardware you have does nothing for anyone to answer your question. Folks have asked you to paste the logs as outlined in a linked post in order to be able to help answer your question, but you have NOT post...

Re: Project 16575 Chrushing GPU 18hrs low points

Not thermal throttling on your 3070M? Even showing 100% GPU, if it is clocking down every other cycle or something would take a lot longer wouldn’t it? Perhaps other workloads never get it to true 100% and kick in throttling? Just a guess… you likely have already looked into this.

Re: Account suspended due to spam.

You didn’t post spam probably, but someone else using your VPN provider with the same IP (or subnet/range of IPs) likely did then. Banning by IP or subnet does have to be done sometimes for persistent spammers, at least on the couple of public forums I moderate for.

Re: Reason for not combining two user accounts?

Because it doesn’t really matter. With coins, even if barely worth anything there is still more “monetary value” than points here. Points here just gives an idea of how much we have relatively contributed to great research causes that otherwise would be seeking and waiting for larger grants to use d...

Re: Spread the word...

Certainly sounds like the “excess capacity” wording should stopped being used described as what folks can “donate” to help. Or maybe change it to “excess capacity of high end graphic cards”. Obviously I dedicate whole machines (well, not their CPUs) to the cause because advancing research is importa...

Re: Spread the word...

I didn’t quite understand Vahid’s point before, but now I do. By handing out a WU with an expiration that is unachievable if not using nearly full resources, the limitations are great for the casual user. I see where they are coming from. Is that the way it works? Or does a casual user get a longer ...

Re: My 2-year anniversary of folding

Thanks all. I am extremely fortune to have had (well, still have for another 10-15 years hopefully) a successful career… this is a way to give back and hopefully help researchers find breakthroughs.

My 2-year anniversary of folding

I am pretty happy with the results. I started Jan 31, 2021. I am 2nd on my team, and 101st overall. Just added another 3080Ti a couple days ago, and have a 4080 coming I hope to get online this weekend. That will be: 4080, 3090Ti, 2x3090, 3x3080Ti in total for about 55M PPD I think. I have completed...

Re: 18601 multiple bad work units

18601 still causes me problems every so often. I'm going to limit based on GPU Temp I think and see if I can get it to work more reliably. Re: PPD monetary value ?

Where I live, about 16 cents per million points, assuming you're running top-tier efficient folding cards. What is your cost per kWh? Here it is .06 peak time and .04 off peak IIRC. I believe my 5 folders with their CPU/GPUs consume roughly 500W each (measured on one of their UPSes I looked at a fe...

Re: 18125 Low PPD

I don’t mind, just if I am dedicating this much hardware (thus $$) to folding, I’d like to keep them as busy as possible is all.

If 18125 is the priority project, then that’s fine. Just wish I could rub two 18125s at the same time to fill the lanes up. ;)

Re: 18125 Low PPD

Thanks, Joe_H. I think that finally clicked in my brain this time. Is this a (good) analogy: the 3080/3090 are like 128 lanes of roadway moving at 100mph in each lane… 18125 only needs like 64 lanes though and the cars on it go 65mph… so… for roadways (GPUs) that have 64 lanes and run at 65mph all t...

Re: 18125 Low PPD

Yeah. I have reported the same, as well as a couple others. That project is just super low PPD compared to everything else… and has a lot of WUs for past couple of months.

Replace my user number after the u= with your user number… find your user stats page, and should see your user number on the left hand column.

This isn’t the forums, I don’t use their forums.
