Re: Please add RTX 2080 Ti

It's listed in my GPUs.txt. If the file on your PC has not been updated in a while you might delete it so the client will download a new one.

Re: GPU won't start folding

Sorry, but the Radeon HD 6700 GPU doesn't have 64 floating point so it's not going to fold. You should just delete the GPU slot.

Re: F@H vs BOINC & Rosetta@home ; using GPU

Just to chime in - I've been wondering abour running BOINC and F@H at the same time. I'm sure there will be a heavy load on the system but I'm OK with that during idle time. I just don't want them choking one another for resources. It would be ideal if there were collaboration between the apps so t...

Re: F@H vs BOINC & Rosetta@home ; using GPU

Yeah, looks that way. The only potential issue might be the video drivers; make sure you're running drivers downloaded from NVIDIA, not the ones from Windows Update.

Re: F@H vs BOINC & Rosetta@home ; using GPU

As for your GPU status being stuck on "Download", post your log file and we can see if you have a configuration problem interfering with downloading a work unit.

Re: F@H vs BOINC & Rosetta@home ; using GPU

1) Since there are different folding groups, does that mean there's overlap and therefore wasted resources in doing calculations? Maybe? There might be different groups out there doing the same general thing, but it would be a heck of a coincidence if they were doing exactly the same thing. 2) In t...

Re: Tax Write-off Opportunities with Folding@Home

If you donate money to Folding@Home via Washington University, it is tax deductible.

Like Jimbo, I would not want to have to go into an IRS audit & try to back up a deduction for electricity or hardware costs.

Re: auto-start web page control in browser, how to disable?

Check the shortcut you use to start F@H, there's a command line argument that's causing it to start the Web Control. I don't remember what it is, but if you remove it the Web Control won't launch automatically anymore. AFAIK, there isn't a similar option for the Advanced Control so no way to start t...

Over in this thread they mention using apt-mark to prevent packages from being automatically removed.

Re: Can I map work unit number to project/disease?

There is a list of active projects that you can look at. If you don't see the project you're looking for, you can do a search on this page, just enter the project number in the search field (in your example, that would be 13840).

Re: Minimum Disk Space required - Dual Boot Linux/Win Vista

I don't have a Linux machine to check, but on my Windows PC with 1 GPU & 1 CPU slot folding F@H is currently taking up just over 500 MB. About 180 MB of that is for the applications & core files, and about 320 MB is the working directories for the two work units currently being processed. To...

Re: Metadata for GPUs.txt?

The first two columns are the signature used to identify the card. The third column indicates the brand - 1 for ATI/AMD, 2 for NVIDIA. The fourth column indicates the capabilities of the processor on the card. These are brand specific from what I've read elsewhere on the forum. Higher values are bet...

Re: Client on Mac Catalina will not start

I don't think anything gets put in /Library/Application Support/FAHClient during installation, I think that all gets set up by the client the first time it runs, so it sounds like the client program has not run at all. The client executable is located in /usr/local/bin , did that get installed? I se...

Re: Setup Advice

Your i9 has 16 threads. You need to reserve 1 thread to manage the GPU folding, so that leaves 15 for CPU folding, but 15 isn't a good value for the number of folding cores. I think your best bet is going to be to set up two CPU folding slots, one 8 core and one 6 core.
