Re: How do I stop FAHClient from adding an unwanted GPU slot?

Copy and pasting that code "safetaco" would then make them fold under your username which they may not want to do. I'd also recommend not posting your passkey public. I am sure you mean well. :e) This was the pertinent snippet based on the topic of this thread that they could replace the r...

Re: RTX2080ti crashes (and reboots) after changs (UEFI, Win11)

Good ideas! Though I am very good about keeping BIOS updated, I kinda forget about the video cards. I'll check that. Yes, the BIOS version I am running is the very latest. It will probably be the last one as the whole x299 line seems to be being phased out anyway. I'll check the 4gb decoding setting...

RTX2080ti crashes (and reboots) after changs (UEFI, Win11)

Getting close to 10 billion F@H points! https://stats.foldingathome.org/donor/2261 I normally am very methodical and incremental in my changes so I can watch for cause and effect. However, my NVMe drive failed suddenly and I figured it was time to move to UEFI anyway. So, I changed my Asus WS x299 S...

Re: Can't choose large number of CPU cores

These are my own systems PantherX. I buy some of the equipment as we retire it or from other places. For about 10 years I had my own I.T. consulting business for a while which was why I bought these initially. That's interesting that core performs better in Linux. I used to use Linux for everything ...

Re: Can't choose large number of CPU cores

Thanks Neil. I appreciate the response. So it is a Windows limitation then? Or Windows FAH Client? Yes it is running Windows Server 2012r2 at the moment with VM's in Hyper-V though if I keep it as a partial work server it will be moved to VMWare. It looks like your top system is similar to this serv...

Can't choose large number of CPU cores

I have a couple of servers that I am no longer going to use in production. Last night, I was working with the smaller one. It is dual 12 core Xeon's for 24 cores and 48 threads. It will not let me set it higher than 30 cores. While I realize that the HT "cores" won't double the yield, I wa...

Re: multiple NVIDIA cards

I realize this is an old thread, but in case someone stumbles across it looking for answers to the same question... I had a Quadro FX1800 and though it shows it has 64 CUDA's, it simply wouldn't ever run on V7. I couldn't get ANY of the AGP versions to work, but I believe they are even older than th...

Re: New (used) PC with 980x and dual 5970's folding

Well, after running just the CPU for a week or so, I can say that while consuming around 800 watts from the wall to fold with the 4 ATI GPU's, and 5 CPU cores, I end up with ~26k ppd combined. With just the CPU alone, it pulls around 325 watts from the wall, and is getting over 30k ppd. I guess that...

Re: New (used) PC with 980x and dual 5970's folding

Just to see what the cards would do on their own, I paused the CPU core and now they are all averaging ~5200 PPD (each) or so. I'll let it go overnight and see if anything changes production-wise. Then, I think I will do as you suggest Panther and see if I can net more than I was getting with just t...

Re: New (used) PC with 980x and dual 5970's folding

Well, before I saw Joes reply I let the CPU unit finish the reinstalled it so it would find the GPU's again. This time I put the latest drivers on it again, dummy plugs, DISABLED CROSSFIRE, and kicked it off and it is at least running and not failing instantly. However, one thing I notice is that al...

Re: New (used) PC with 980x and dual 5970's folding

GPU-Z Device ID is: 1002-689C

I turned off GPU folding on it in the meantime so I wouldn't get work units I couldn't finish. I'll set them up again and post the first part you requested later. Thank you for your help.

New (used) PC with 980x and dual 5970's folding

After getting reprimanded on here a few years back for the 4850 which was simply terrible at folding, I stopped on it back then and went back to its competitor. However, I just bought a used Alienware computer and it is running an Intel i7 980 Extreme 6 core on water and it also has a pair of 5970 c...

Re: QuadroFX3800 & 9800GT folds but unknown

I am pretty sure I have tried these by themselves in a system, but it could perhaps have still had an old config. I have read your posts Bruce many times and greatly respect both yours and 7im's advice so I will give that a try but it will probably be next weekend. Do you think it is causing any det...

Thanks for your reply Bruce, I thought about doing that but wasn't sure. If this isn't enough, let me know and I can grab more/rest of it. *********************** Log Started 2013-05-03T19:48:15Z *********************** 19:48:15:************************* Folding@home Client *************************...
