I quit running the SMP on my lappie because it didn't like being turned off and on all the time. When I was at work and just left it on, it completed WU's just fine within deadlines. I like to look at it differently. You quit running the Beta client on your laptop because it didn't like being turne...

I've asked the PandeGroup to check on this, especially since you might not be the only one having the same problem.

I can't find a record of that WU in the moderator database. What was the date that the WU was downloaded? Apparently you're saying that it was uploaded at 12:33 UTC on 10Dec. (If you tell me your time-zone, it's okay to use local times.) Look back in FAHlog.txt to the last time you restarted the cli...

So, in essence, we're in on the ground level? Yes, we're building knowledge at a fundamental level. Nevertheless, don't despair. There's no way to predict what fact, no matter what its "level," will cause a breakthrough once it's understood. I also look at it from a personal perspective w...

This was probably explained on the previous forum but I guess it's only fair to answer it here, though I'm not going to provide as detailed an answer. There are many different steps required to cure a disease. You've mentioned only two of them. Some steps are essential, some are not (yes, a cure for...

It would be helpful if you asked related questions in a single thread. That allows us an easy path to previous discussions that are directly related. No client intervention is required with the default configuration settings. The client will upload results and download new WUs (and new cores, if nec...

Re: How to use passkey?

I'm interested in using the passkey stated in the FAQ. I entered my username and email and it generated a key, but I don't know where to enter it. The passkey is only used with the v6 clients which are beta test versions that you can download. V5 doesn't accept passkeys. If you're already running v...

Re: Multiple PC's

Check the names very closely for differences in spelling, spaces or anything else. Including case sensitivity: dave, Dave, DAVE, dAvE are all different. Also, if you use an email address, the domain name (everything after the @) will not display, so Myname and MyName@domain1.com and MyName@domain2....

Re: more on the best folding solutions

what is the relation of the productivity of a PS3 vs a GPU with the latest ATI GPU? The GPU client does not yet run with the latest GPUs. There have been hints that a new GPU client might be available for those newer GPUs but nobody can do anything except guess when that might be or how fast it's g...

another thought. what is the linkage of the ATI GPU's to the CPU performance, more, can I build cheap machines from a CPU perspective and populate them with the correct ATI GPU's or is there a coupling between the CPU and GPU for optimal processing for folding?? There is virtually NO relationship b...

I'm still running FAH on a 1.2 GHz laptop. It often is assigned WUs that take several weeks (or more) to finish. Your machine is about half that fast so they should take twice as long, but it will depend on luck which project you're assigned and when the current one finishes. Are you sure you can fi...

How about this:

System crashes can slow down folding unless you use -forceasm.

Try using the -forceasm flag to speed up processing (and correct the bad shutdowns you may have force on FAH). No, no, no. ( :P  ) Please don't tell folks that -forceasm speeds up processing. That rumor has been with us much too long and continuing to circulate it is like some of those junk e...
