Re: GeForce RTX 3080 and 3090 support enabled !
Only with the new core. The new core is under beta level testing, still a few bugs it seems as some 'escaped' to general users and some issues found. Serious progress though for optimization let us see, I am optimistic.

Re: New RTX3xxx cards
Although the promise of the RTX 3090 seems incredible, the current price I see is off putting and the power consumption and likely heat generation look like a serious headache for users. I suspect the later iterations of the 3080, ti or whatever they call the higher binned chips may be the sweet spo...

Re: Recommendations on used cards for Folding
My opinion, it best to go with newer generations if possible so RTX 2060 leads that list, but I bought a bargain GTX 1660ti earlier this year and am very happy with it although it hasn't previously met the 1 M ppd line it has been close and I think improvements in cores utilizing CUDA better will se...

Re: GeForce RTX 3080 and 3090 support enabled !
What is being seen with F@H not seeming to make the most of new hardware has happened previously with new gens, it can be a number of factors such as projects cores not aligned to new standards or drivers not yet fully utilizing capacities or combinations. However the project seems to be ahead of th...

Re: GeForce RTX 3080 and 3090 support enabled !
I suspect the screen shot PPD from the lower end of the scale, but the example shown doesn't seem very impressive and is maybe not representative for other reasons. I would expect with these card like the previous gen that the top level cards give wildly different ppd with different projects and ato...

Re: GeForce RTX 3080 and 3090 support enabled !
That folder on overclockers is saying 3.5-4.5 Mppd on 3080 looks like has completed just 3 units so far and not big ones, seems to be on windows from comment. Good to see some data even if partial.

Re: Best Buy and 3080's
I tried one retailer who notified me of availability of 3 versions of RTX 3080's, the first one I viewed was already out of stock then their website crashed. I am not actually in the market at present was just looking at what available and what the first models looked like cooling and connector wise...

Re: RTX 3000 Preliminary price/performance (estimated)
I have an issue with your numbers for current cards: 2080 Ti: 4352 Cuda Cores, 352 bit GDDR6, $1200 ~3.6-4.1M PPD ; RATIO: 3.2 Maybe under Linux, on some units, with the wind at your back this is 'average' ppd for an RTX 2080ti. I am cautious about over estimating PPD, but am hopeful that moves to u...

Re: Are We Doing It?
I know. I've been folding since 2002. This is different, so maybe I'm a bit fatigued. Sorry. I'm going to keep folding away. Hi momus 98 understand the heat issues, maybe wind down a bit if the heat making things difficult, the long run is what counts as you know. Cooler weather soon enough and you...

Re: RTX 3080 on a PCIE 2.0 board? Good or bad idea?
Although we won't know whether it will work on any OS until someone tests a real one, it does seem unlikely that it will meet its full potential.

Re: RTX 3080 on a PCIE 2.0 board? Good or bad idea?
A high end latest series GPU with an old mobo is likely to be a disappointment at least. If your heart set on a RTX 3xxx and willing to spend that money also spend some on a board/chip that are not so vastly different that you are guaranteed compatibility issues and bottle necks.

Re: Mining board with 8x zotac p106
Linux will be better if you are used to using it and maybe even worth learning if you want to really maximize this rig. Windows will be easier to start with but will bottleneck on the pcie lanes and CPU resources more as you add more GPUs.r0k0 wrote:Should i run linux or windows 10 ?

Re: Mining board with 8x zotac p106
As suggested I would start with the 'best' board and cpu and perhaps 2 GPUs add extra GPUs 1 at a time and see how the performance goes, you may get to a stage where adding an extra gpu results in no increase in performance but that point is unpredictable. I would hazard a guess that with the i3 and...
